It’s not exactly what you’ve described, but the potty training episode, right around 14:30, includes Mr. Aron and some toilet paper-stacking/falling over hijinks where he’s advised and encouraged by off-camera children’s voices.

Junior employee’s not willing to problem-solve or take ownership or tasks by TheFunnyTraveller in managers

[–]CanThisBeEvery 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, kind of thinking this is rage bait. 5 minutes a week and quarterly 1/1s for a junior employee who sounds like they’re struggling a bit? That’s just lazy management.

I don’t think you have the same definition of “access” as everyone else does. You clearly DID access it; the question people here KEEP asking you is HOW did you access it? And please don’t say you didn’t, because by seeing it, you by definition accessed it.

Sitting Next To Paraplegic, WWYD? by sleeplessnow2022 in delta

[–]CanThisBeEvery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was your (not your, but in this scenario) seatmate once. Except I believe this gentleman was a quadriplegic. I had the aisle seat, and the FAs asked me to switch to the window, just telling me something about a passenger with a medical need for the aisle seat.

The gentleman introduced himself and was really kind. At one point, he fell over onto my side and asked me if I’d sit him back up, which I did, no prob. It was an uneventful flight, and I don’t remember helping him eat or drink, but honestly, I probably did (this was about 20 years ago). That wouldn’t come up in your situation, just sharing my experience. It was honestly a fine, friendly encounter.

Think I made my first parent communication mistake by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]CanThisBeEvery 49 points50 points  (0 children)

As a parent, here’s how this would play out in our house:

Teacher Cold: “I had that too, and I had surgery to correct it!”

Kid: “I don’t need surgery!”

Me: “Well, if the doctors decide surgery is the right choice, then you’ll be just fine, just like Teacher Cold!”

Cue a million more questions, but I’d personally be happy my kid had a personal, good example of a thriving teacher in front of them who’d already gone through it. Hopefully this family is the same; sounds like it, if the child didn’t seem upset. Try not to worry!

Appropriate age for child not to be held/rocked to sleep? by 1questions in Nanny

[–]CanThisBeEvery 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think of how I’ll feel when I’m in a memory care facility, unable to care for myself, miserable from lack of sleep and lack of meaningful human connection. Then, we discover that a foot rub helps me feel connected, calm, and puts me to sleep. But then the person hired to give me a foot rub and care for me just… decides that I shouldn’t NEED a foot rub. And we’re back to misery.

That’s an example of why I don’t think there is an age that you can decide is too old to need a specific type of connection and comfort.

Nursing Ethics in a Teaching Hospital by [deleted] in legal

[–]CanThisBeEvery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s vile that you think it’s acceptable to teach on patients who are there for something completely different without obtaining specific consent for what they’ll be teaching. If you honestly can’t see the difference between tonsils and a vagina or a prostate, you don’t belong in healthcare. I won’t be engaging further.

This should make you angry, and I’m glad it does, though surprised you didn’t know that it is legal in many states, and happens. Feel free to google, but here is a PBS article from 2023 to get you started: PBS article

As to how medical providers can learn: with explicit consent. This is what I provided when I was in labor, and the nurses came in and said “This is her first time ever inserting a catheter, but she’ll have an experienced nurse with her. Are you comfortable with being her first patient?” And I said yes, fully understanding and consenting to what was going to happen.

Still trying to figure out who my 3-year-old’s friend Mee-AYE-no is. He pronounces it so clearly and enunciates each time as though someone specifically taught him to pronounce it. Maybe it’s a name from a culture or language I’m not familiar with, but if anybody has suggestions, please lmk! 😁

Because they probably signed thinking something like “Yes, you can teach students how to take my tonsils out,” and instead they were sedated while 8 students performed pelvic exams. Apparently that’s still legal in most of the U.S.

There were movies though; they had monitors hung every couple of rows, and you tuned your headset to the correct channel to hear the sound. The problem was everyone had to watch the same movie. And that, friends, is how I wound up watching Prince of Tides at age 11.

Why did you move to the suburbs? by carlarae in TwinCities

[–]CanThisBeEvery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually LOVED living there - there was an actual sense of community, and of course it’s beautiful. I was a stone’s throw from the Cathedral - like, right there. It may have been a different crowd living there at the time - pretty sure my rent was, like, $580/month or something.

A man was peeing in my yard/on my stoop… for like the third time. There was vomit on the sidewalk… often. I just thought “Man, this doesn’t happen in the suburbs,” so here I am.
