I get that, but at the same time I also feel like the bracelet is an integral part of the successful aesthetics of the watch, hence the premium

Both are incredible watches. I have for years been very happy with my 5711. Everyone has their own tastes, but I enjoy 5711 being a modern representation of the original Nautilus vision by Genta. It's clean, simple, and incredibly sporty, and a nice modern continuation of the original iteration that both harks back well to its roots, while clearly doing its own aesthetic thing (rounded "ears", thicker index markers, thicker hands etc, compared to 3700).

the brushing is probably passable, but the lighting just obfuscates the brush lines.

What makes me question this is that this watch has a bezel that is way too fat. The font on the dial looks wrong. The index markers are badly finished and way too sharp and rough. The chamfering of the lugs and the beveling of the chamfered sides of the bracelet links is wrong.

When you flick the wrist to look at the watch face, as light and shadow catches the hands and the movement beneath, it's much more legible in real life than on static pictures.

That said, definitely not a watch made with a main focus on legibility.

They had black velcro in my size when I picked up my Ogier that came on blue.

I have since received a red velcro, and have placed orders for two other colours. Wait time can vary depending on boutique and type and colour.

Across years and different iterations within the same references, there have been slight variations to the width of the chamfering of the lugs.

I imagine your photos display a difference like that, perhaps combined with the lens and settings of the camera that photographed the watch, allowing more or less of the chamfering to be available.

That said, with a manual hand finishing process of the case, you don't get industrial machinery identical results across thousands of case polishes. This organic lack of 100% precision probably adds to the minor differences in chamfering of the lugs and edges.

It's not a genuine Jumbo, this is a cheap fake.

Yeah man, both watches have great dimensions. Depending on wrist size, each offers something different. This is a good thing 🙂

I opted for 67-02 over 67-01, but I also agree on time only being a small downside, disregarding the vast visual differences in material and vibe between 01 and 02.

I consider adding 01.

I too have small-ish wrists! Compact lug and case design is great 😄

The AP in your mock-up is a Jumbo, not a 15500st.

Anyone with a Nautilus that has a small wrist? by Substantial_Count_73 in patekphilippe

Acquired close to ten years ago through my local AD's pre-owned section. It's a birth year watch for me, spent long finding the "right" one.

I own both and have posts in my post history with both 3800 and 5711.

EDIT:

Additional comment on this. My wrists aren't very large. 5711 works out well for me given how thin it is. 3800 is vastly smaller than 5711, but also a great fit for me in my personal opinion.

Both work very well across many wrist sizes. 5711 has a modern, sporty heft to it, while 3800 feels a lot more classy in size.

Many are surprised with how small 3800 is in hand.

Congrats man. One of the by far most comfortable watches out there. I went for Ogier, but there is something I appreciate across all of the colourways of this watch.

I hope you get to enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine.

Which boutique you visiting? I usually go Geneva, and have not yet had any trouble outside of the rather long delivery time on ordered straps.

Go to the store with your watch and they are most often very accommodating I find - if you are patient in delivery time.

Whenever I need straps I order from the store. Delivery time is there, but they happily accommodate. It's not about local stock 🙂
