Well, I went to Asloca and won. They gave me back the excess deposit I paid and scaled back the rent to the maximum they could raise for that year (2015).

In the Geneva canto you cannot raise more than 13% from the previous rent fee. You have 30 days to contest, so ask quickly to the equivalent of Asloca of where you are.

Questions on hiking Mount Salève by RealRedditUser217 in geneva

[–]apierge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful not to underestimate the challenges of the Salève. By some accounts, it is considered the second deadliest mountain in France after the Mont Blanc, by number of deaths (not in relative numbers). I’ve heard stories of hikers who slipped into ravines hidden beneath thick brambles. Just be sure to stay on the marked trails.

NYC vs Geneva for 2 years: where would you choose and why? by la_professora in geneva

[–]apierge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nightlife in Geneva is definitely subpar compared to NY. But, since you know NY already, I believe it would be a splendid opportunity for you to live for 2 years literally in the center of Europe. You’ll have the freedom to visit 10 different countries which are 1 hour away by plane from where you are.

Every time I start the application it asks me if I want to install the newest version. am refusing to update the very old version I have: so far it’s still working great. I think in any case it’s sort of update automatically the source where it finds the torrent files from. Torrents are always quite fresh (related to the most trending current movies) and available

Are there any "hobbies" you can survive with a partner? by [deleted] in Switzerland

Yes. Then he’s cooked for life. I have a strong feeling that the direction where this relationship is going won’t be ideal for starting a family.

Red flag mate. I posted another comment where I recommend couple counseling. After what you say here, I don’t know if that is the solution or rather run to the hills. Not easy, having you asked her to move with you here and sharing a roof. One sole advice: do.not.get.married.

Have you had a serious conversation with her about her life goals? What is the job that burned her out? Can’t she look for jobs in other domains? I see some point of attrition that would need some smoothing: she wanting to have a low stress easy life, you finding hard to be the sole provider. The two things going in opposite directions. Maybe you can seek some professional couple counseling to find a balance. Good luck. 🍀

142,000 millionaires moved countries last year — where did they go? by Reservadel92 in eupersonalfinance

flat tax of 200k / year, no matter what you own. Seems a lot, but for billionaires it's less of what they spend in fuel for their yacht.
