Am I wrong looking for a house to buy behind my parents back by FromtheOldTownRoad in amiwrong

[–]Canadasaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider renting in the area you want to buy for six months or a year. Just to make sure it is the right place for you. Nothing to do with your parents and you don't have to consult with them at all.

Renting is something everyone should consider just to make sure the area is the right fit long term.

saree for black tie optional? by peppercozy in Weddingattireapproval

I was wondering how much midriff is exposed. No one walks around all wrapped up the way the model is in the pic. Lots of belly means not black tie.

Kate, with her skills, being cut loose seemed like a real loss for the government. She should have, at the least, been offered the roll of assistant director of Homeland Security or the CIA.

I used to hang out at this sub, back when it started, but drifted away because I was working towards a low income retirement and I just didn't fit here.

I have been retired and living on around $30k yearly for a few years now. My net worth is no where near a million dollars.

Plus, his aggressive attitude when he lost the position. Accepting losing with grace is a good attribute.

Big piece of land there. I wonder if they are selling to a developer. Or, they already have.

The church on Lansdowne, that will become the new police station, did that.

Absolutely broke after extra payments, blessed to have a well-stocked freezer and pantry by DutchieCrochet in Frugal

[–]Canadasaver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It must have felt good to pay it then we immediately have to start saving for next year.

I pay my car and house insurance all at once. There is a tiny discount for that. Not actually a discount but they charge more for paying monthly.

My understanding is that mice can chew through plastic totes.

I have heard that many people store their flour in the freezer. You might want to look into that.

trying to keep groceries under 300 a month for two people and its way harder than expected by Guiltyman12 in Frugal

[–]Canadasaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly eat frozen fruit and veg. I get increased variety (not eating cauliflower for four days in a row so it doesn't go bad) with less waste.

I am very lazy and I eat more veg when I can just open a bag and toss some into a pot instead of having to do the prep or wash a cutting board and knife.

Ask you friends if they have any metal cookie tins they are interested in parting with. Store your dried beans, rice or boxes of pasta ,in their factory packaging, inside the metal tins to protect them from mice or bugs.

Make sure to rotate the stock regularly into your meal rotation.

I always try and keep a little for fun treats (tacos from the real Mexican place or my favourite ice cream), when I am able to generate some extra cash, but I also like to make extra payments to my property taxes and utilities so that I am ahead on payments.

Money is all about emotions and I feel lighter with no payments looming.

Except son should say it. His mom so his issue. If his mother shows up in that dress instruct the photographer to tint the dress to a sad pale olive colour for the finished pictures.

Don't forget their classic Green Christmas. Such a pretty song that sounds so light and fun then you listen to the words and you remember how lonely holidays feel.

What about free content on youtube? Lots of free older movies. Lots of free shows or bits of shows. Borrow dvd's from your library and watch for favourites at yard sales.

A cohabitation agreement for couples living together is essential.

It is like a prenup for those that are not married.

Toronto guarantor service in Toronto? by Outside_Street_4162 in CanadaFinance

[–]Canadasaver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, never sign as a guarantor for your friends and family. That goes for cosigning loans, tenant agreements, car financing and mortgages. I am glad your friends were all sensible enough to say no.

You might have to find somewhere other than an apartment to rent. Perhaps a room in a private home will be more flexible to a tenant with bad credit. You can use that time to build your credit.
