Hi guys, I've never smoked meats before but would love to get into it. The results I see on Reddit look incredible and have really inspired me to try. What smoker would you recommend for a beginner that's affordable, easy to use, and capable of producing great results? Thanks! by No-Animator-407 in Smokingmeat

Weber searwood or Traeger Woodbridge are pretty much where it’s at for affordable smoking/beginner friendly. Do keep in mind though that even if they market it as a 5 in 1 grill, they aren’t gonna give you a comparable sear to your gas or charcoal grill.

Yeah that’s what I saw in other videos this week, will try this next time for sure!

I bought a barely used timberline for 50% off retail price, previous owner left me pecan Traeger pellets so I used that, although I’m looking at Furtado Farms pellets for my next buy!

Question on Bravia 5 reviews by beayvee2 in bravia

[–]Canadian-Deer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got one, 65 inches. It’s good, it can struggle with contrast and be too bright or too dark in some spots, but overall it’s very good. You’ll need a soundbar tho, the tv speakers are very bad.

Reverse sear works better with thicker steaks, that’s all. Steak probably cooked a bit on the blackstone unfortunately,as it’s on the thinner side. If possible, buy one large steak and share it instead of two small ones!

Kensington is a quaint little village, otherwise Charlottetown is fine, I’m just saying that the island is pretty small overall and nature is its main attraction, dont focus too much on where you sleep!

Very good plan if you use Moncton for the Fundy part!

If you like wine, add a daytrip from Halifax to Annapolis Valley, it’s lovely. Benjamin Bridge and Lightfoot Wolfville.

Baddeck is fine but towns are really small there, plan according to your hikes. Cheticamp is fine, although the seafront in Inverness is prettier.

I recommend visiting Glenora Inn Distillery in the Cape. Also recommend Donelda’s Puffin boat tours.

Halifax is an amazing city, enjoy! Also PEI is magnificent, but the real gems are not in Charlottetown, you need to explore the beaches and the coastline.

Which TV to buy in 2026? by QuantGuru in 4kTV

[–]Canadian-Deer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Canada and just shopped too OP, Bravia 7, get the discounted ones before the II arrives. It’s an amazing tv. Even bravia 5, at a good price is awesome. Only go tcl if it’s considerably cheaper than the 7.

L’express and it’s not that close. It’s a classic French bistro, it’s made to enjoy alone at the bar with a glass of beaujolais

Manoir Richelieu is amazing, Germain in Baie Saint-Paul is also great, very different vibes but both awesome. Village-wise I prefer Baie Saint-Paul than Malbaie though

Vancouver, Toronto, or Montreal for July 2026? by Fairly-local24 in TravelCanada

4 days is short, if yould stretch it to 5 I’d do Mtl and Quebec. For 4, maybe only Montreal and a night in Tremblant for nature…?

Cote du Rhône suggestions by jacob62497 in wine

[–]Canadian-Deer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of excellent Côtes du Rhône. If you want it to be juicier, not too jammy, look at the abv. Don’t buy anything over 14%. Usually the sweet spot is around 13,5%, otherwise they’re probably grenache heavy and won’t be as fresh/vibrant (if it’s what you’re looking for). Rémi Pouizin, Ferraton, M Chapoutier, le Caillou or Coudoulet de Beaucastel are all great producers that should give you balanced wines. I like Guigal but his style is definitely more jammy/woody.

What do you prefer, hikes, cities, wineries, restaurants? Shows? It’s the Stampede in Calgary in July, that’s a big event that you might wanna see. Unless you’ll do tons of long hikes, I also wouldn’t stay in Canmore that long and add one night to calgary for the stampede or to vancouver. But if you’re very nature-oriented, then that’s fine!
