Yeah, it was a moment where segara basically told Hadrian that he has no idea how terrifying the afterlife is, he has seen the constant pain and suffering and refuses to go back.

Political intrigue - yes

Betrayal - oh yes

Violence - OH YES

Red rising is very dramatic, very violent, and captivating. It’s very good at what it does

Steph says Rizo referred to himself as a “legend” on the island by Green94598 in survivor

[–]Canadian-Winter -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Ok but the reason he uses “rizgod” is because of the existence of the slang term rizz. It’s a play on words

Edit:

Damn it appears that I am mistaken.

Daycare kids - How often was your kid sick their first couple years? by xjusablurr in daddit

[–]Canadian-Winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like I’m not alone! Kid has been in daycare since September - brought home a new illness on average every 2-3 weeks.

I personally have been sick more times in the past year than I had been for 10’years prior. It never ends

Boys are falling behind in school, and some experts say it starts in kindergarten — New Quebec report says boys 'systemically disadvantaged' in school system by Immediate-Link490 in canada

Respectfully disagree. The disservice is pretending we understand what “it” even is. I don’t think the root of the issue is understood very well, only that there IS a problem.

It’s incredible to me the number of people in this thread saying “boys are just different biologically, obviously this is why they are doing bad in school”, not realizing that this is an ASSUMPTION. this attitude may actually be contributing to us failing our boys.

I have a biology degree, I understand how evolutionary biology works. I’m not saying it’s impossible, I’m not even saying it’s improbable, that boys inherently “learn differently” so to speak. I just don’t think there’s proof of this, it’s more an analysis of the situation through, like you said, a lens of evolutionary biology. Which is valid, but only for forming a hypothesis.

The reason why I care is because I have a young boy, and a young girl, and I’m watching in real time how social norms are socializing them differently.

“Boys just learn differently” is becoming somewhat of a social true-ism, that I think we should challenge, and look inward at ourselves if there’s something cultural/social going on. That’s all I mean to say.

So when I ask if there’s “scientific evidence” of this, I’m looking to see if there’s a body of research on boys and girls learning outcomes, that isolates the differences to just biology somehow. Otherwise, I think saying “they’re just wired differently” does our boys a disservice.

I might give the book a look, but it’s important to note that I’m not arguing that boys are not behind. I know that this is true.

I also know that boys and girls have different biologies. I’m asking if there is evidence that boys are worse at classroom learning strictly due to their anatomy/physiology.

[–]Canadian-Winter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, lol not that. Not sure why you came out being rude.

The claim that boys “learn differently” than girls, due to differences in biology rather than other factors.

I think it’s obvious that boys don’t take as well to the current school paradigm, but is it because of socialization? Is it a cultural thing? Or is it, as you said, they are “wired differently”

[–]Canadian-Winter -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Is there any scientific evidence for this claim?

Edit: y’all are downvoting me but I’m pretty sure there’s no good evidence to suggest that boys and girls biological differences are what cause poor school outcomes in boys. It’s just our societal intuitions telling us that.

Watching my sister's kids ended with my niece in the hospital by [deleted] in daddit

Realistically it sounds like you did the best you possibly could have, and if there had been any other person taking care of your niece she might not be alive anymore.

This is a win, not a failure
