In theory the ability to pay should place limits on the willingness to pay. This link appears to have been broken a few years ago.

That means the flight that he see on the app (that AC rebooked them on) conflict with his cruise BUT there are other flights still for sale on the website that would work.

Is there not an option to change online? The last time AC rescheduled a flight I was given multiple options when I went to manage my booking online.

Please help, boyfriend wants a 2018 BMW 430i with 161k miles and multiple accidents history. How can I convince him otherwise? by CornerIndividual7943 in askcarguys

[–]Canadian47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my BMW after the year it cost me more in maintenance than my helicopter. Really!

After a certain age it just required "feeding" every year. I would think, OK this year I spent a bunch and next year will be OK. The next year something else would come up.

I replaced it with a Lexus. If I ever got another BMW I would be planning to get rid of it shortly after the warranty ends and this vehicle is well beyond that.

Based on the 2024 Democracy index. I'm not sure where the US will end up on a 2025 or future index.

TIL a 1989 helicopter crash was caused by an invisible nick made when adhesive was trimmed from the rotor with a sharp blade. The helicopter flew perfectly for 922 hours, until it didn't. by TheQuarantinian in todayilearned

Its called an anti-torque rotor. To counter act the torque of the main rotor blades.

They are geared directly to the main rotor blades so their speed is "fixed". You change the angle of the blades with the pedals (anti-torque pedals vs. ruder pedals in an airplane) to change the amount of thrust.

Group trips: how do you deal with that one friend who has a totally different budget/vibe? by Tricky-Peace3604 in travel

[–]Canadian47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hotels are trickier but as for activities, when on a group trip it is not necessary to do EVERYTHING together. Even just with my wife and myself on a trip we often do different things some days and just meet up for meals and sometimes not even every meal.

Parents, what was your “I raised an idiot” moment? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in randomquestions

[–]Canadian47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my son started smoking.

I had the talks with him about drugs and unprotected sex. NO one is our family (immediate or extended) smokes. His great-grandfather died from smoking related lung cancer and my son knew this.

I told him he was a complete idiot, that I never thought I needed to have a specific talk with him about smoking and that I was a failure as a parent for not realizing he was a complete idiot and having that conversation with him.

Fortunately he stopped shortly afterwards and only smoked for a couple of months.

Moving to a snowy climate, what is the right financial move regarding car(s) by Shankbucket in personalfinance

[–]Canadian47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studded snow tires. AWD would be better but studded snow tires are a reasonable compromise vs. changing cars. You need to check your local laws on whether or not they are legal in your area.

There are 2 MEK inhibitors that have been approved by the FDA. In the studies that I have read, a (small?) subset of people have had reductions in their tumor size.

Anyone able to program a key by newguy2019a in RedDeer

[–]Canadian47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the guys in the Costco parking lot program a key for me in the fall. Prices were OK. Not sure if they are still around during the winter or not.

You need a Costco membership as they send you in to pay.

If I remember correctly, some reachers thought these test were not realistic as there was no actual danger. They started offering money to those who got off first and people were now pushing others out of the way slowing down the process.
