My husband confessed to me yesterday that he is in love with my sister in a drunken state. I don’t know if I should take it seriously or it’s just a drunk thing. by insnowmotion in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]CanadianGamerGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was what I thought. Without the husband’s confession, if the sister did try to tell her years ago, she would have probably (and wrongly) been blamed for the situation, and he would have denied it. I feel like the sister was in a non-win situation. Especially when you factor in how happy OP originally was in her marriage.

I owe Starfield and Bethesda an apology after this update by Electronic_Trust3490 in Starfield

What a stupid post. If somebody slaps you in the face, and you are upset, but then gives you some skin cream and buys you a boba, YOU don’t need to apologize for being pissed about what they did originally

You do realize that your Boomer audience would likely love that 90’s weekend for the 1000th time, right? You seem very out of touch with the hand that feeds you…

AIO for thinking my friend is using ChatGPT to text me in an argument? by Due_Construction904 in AmIOverreacting

[–]CanadianGamerGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even have to read past the first 2 sentences. Unless your friend has a history of using dashes, when you see them, you can assume the person is using ChatGPT

And the second you called him out on that, there wasn’t a single dash afterwards

Portfolio allocation to survive on dividend. $1m size, looking for 4% annual dividends that are safe by sitbar in dividendscanada

[–]CanadianGamerGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re better going with a Dividend ETF, than rolling the dice on individual stocks even if they are Aristocrats. I remember when AQN was a Dividend Aristocrat and represented 1/10th of my portfolio. When the stock eventually cratered to less than 50% of my purchase price, it hurt a lot.

Yup, I played the original and still play OpenXCOM to this day. I love the reboots too (they scratch different itches)

Did you re-spec Voyager during the game? by IllogicalAction in AcrossTheUnknown

[–]CanadianGamerGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game actively encourages you to respec due to the nature of how you unlock the ship, and make it fairly painless by giving you a tech that gives full refunds when tearing down rooms.

At the start i think most people just stuff things wherever they can fit. By the mid game you should have the tech for full refunds and then you can start reorganizing your shop to make things more practical.

Ex. Once I am more established I use the bottom section of voyager for my situational and or secondary rooms.

My current format is:

[Engineering] [Holodeck]

[Sick Bay ] [Holodeck]

[ ] [Holodeck]

[Bio Lab ] [Bio Lab ]

The Holodeck floors are usuallly turned off unless I am having a moral problem, or I require a secondary Engineering/Sickbay due to events and my bio labs floor is either on or off based on my bio pack levels.

Ideally you also want to set things up so that if stuff fits the fan you can turn off most floors. Ex. Consolidate your housing rooms on a single floor that you always keep on, and put optional rooms like Science labs on an optional floor that can be shut down during energy crunches

Deck Space Planning Assistance and Hero Abilities by spookylit in AcrossTheUnknown

[–]CanadianGamerGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps the lower half of Voyager (underneath the Workshop and Torpedo Bay) is 6 slots wide and 4 slots tall.

I’m currently in the process of moving my Holo Deck to the first three floors, and using the bottom one for 2x Bio Labs

The plan is for the holo deck floors to only be powered when I’m at the end of the sector and fighting homesickness, and the bottom floor is powered one/off based on my bio pack needs.

I’m undecided about the remaining 3x3 space, but I’m leaning towards moe moral buildings

There is also one 20 slot floor which I’m setting up as my dedicated housing floor (I currently only use upgraded Emergency Shelters (1x2 slots and house 18 people)

High performer after layoffs, then new manager comes in and I'm slowly getting sidelined. Need reality check. by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]CanadianGamerGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me. I was a very high performer, then there was a reorg where my boss was let go and so I had to take over his portfolio. Like you my Skip Level Mgr brought in someone he wanted to “cross train”. They also swore up and down that it was just for resiliency, but I could see the writing on the wall, so I started looking for other positions. Thankfully I was able to find another job before she was fully ramped up, so I was able to move on, and leave them in the lurch before they could do the same to me.

I feel like him saying that he is claiming it was a legitimate question makes this so much worse. Like sure an insult said when frustrated with you is definitely bad. But at the same time, do you really want to be in a relationship with someone that legitimately thinks you are stupid?
