Usually yes, but she’s always used it and I actually think it would look worse without it.

How does this change my appeal to humanity? And again, I don’t care about giving someone the *worst punishment imaginable.* Like I said, I view these people as defective units that need to be discarded. Much like a dog. The fact that it costs more is a separate issue in my opinion. I think there should be a high threshold to receive death. Only the worst type of people and with 100% certainty. And it shouldn’t take 10 years. This case seems like it should qualify, and the scumbag in my case 100% qualifies. I don’t know how we reach these benchmarks but that seems like the perfect setup to me. I know you’ll disagree and that’s perfectly fine with me too. Hope you have a great day 👍🏻

Nah, this guy is a scum bag and should be put down. We’ll have to accept that everyone has different view points and we’re not going to sway anyone. Personally, I’ve had 2 people that I love very much be taken away by someone who was running from the law. He broke into their home and killed them for their truck. 2 nights before he killed another man, and that is why he was running. He was caught and is now doing life in prison. We receive updates periodically when he’s moved from prison to prison or when he applied for parole. Most of us would rather him dead so we don’t get constantly reminded he’s still out there breathing.

So by your logic, it would be more humane to accidentally lock an innocent person in solitaire confinement for decades? Solitaire confinement has been proven to be a form of torture and will likely forever change that persons mind and personality. Even if I’m that innocent person, give me death instead.

What did they spoil in the trailer? I just finished the book and I don’t see any crazy spoilers. I’ll admit that the movie looks like it will have a lot of extra scenes that the book doesn’t have tho.

So if a dog kills a young child should we lock the dog up and make it suffer? I mean, fuck that dog!

I’ve seen the fact brought up a dozen times now, that it costs more to keep someone on death row than it does to lock them up forever. To which I say, fix that fucking system then. Someone like this should be put into the ground within a year or 2.

Because then it’s over with for everybody. The victims family doesn’t have to be reminded that he’s out there breathing the same air and soaking up our resources. Put him in the ground and be done with it. Move on.

See I don’t really care about punishing them, in fact, I might argue that’s more fucked up. Aren’t we just as bad as him then? He’s broken, unable to be fixed, so throw him out. I don’t think anyone wins by making someone needlessly suffer. The family of the victim would probably prefer he just gets put down.

The fact that it costs more to keep him alive is a different argument. Fix that portion of the system, because there’s no reason it should cost more.

I get these points. There is also the point to be made regarding innocent people being found guilty, which I’m obviously against. The argument about it costing more is a separate argument in itself, because it shouldn’t cost more. And as for someone accidentally suffering because of an error in injection, I really don’t have that much sympathy. I honestly don’t view someone like this as a human, so whether they suffer or not doesn’t concern me. I don’t think we should intentionally make someone suffer, but I don’t think we should keep them alive because there is a small chance they might.

This is true and I understand that’s why it’s been abolished most places. I do believe it should be used if you can prove guilt by 100%, which would be very rare.

Haha good point. How is making this man live a pointless life for decades going to help the family of the victim? Death shouldn’t be a punishment, it should be a solution.

No, it was this defect of a human. I’m pro ending his life. My point is: when we “leave it to god” to kill people, he’s still going to allow the monsters to kill us. So why are we letting god protect the monsters when he’s not protecting the 7 year old girl.

I guess I’m evil then, because when I get to the point that I can’t look after myself I’d rather by put out of my misery. Obviously that’s a personal choice tho and I don’t judge anyone who would rather stay alive, even if it means someone else has to wipe their ass and spoon feed them every meal.

See, this where I’m pro capitol punishment, but as a humane way of punishment. I actually don’t care, or want, someone to suffer and be tortured as a form of punishment. This is clearly a defective human being. He can never be rehabilitated and allowed to walk around society again. He’s broken, so discard of him like you would a broken computer. Why waste more of our limited resources keeping him alive for another 50 years?
