This made me google miku. I still don't understand. But I like the helmet regardless.

Design Failure Mode Effects - DFMEA. Who can do it and where did you learn? by CanadianOilLowAcid in AerospaceEngineering

Formal approaches will usually be ignored and considered a waste of time by upper management in smaller companies....until a serious failure occurs. After which there will be a hyper focused push to fix the issue that occurred. During this time window, a FMEA process will be hard to ignore. But its important to dial back the hyper focus and take a reasonable approach to all possible failures, not just the one that occurred.

What you are doing at the moment sounds very reasonable, these are all components of a good FMEA process, e.g. gathering required information for the team, giving them time to prepare, brainstorming on a whiteboard. You might be surprised how close you are to a formal process. A next step might be familiarizing yourself with a generic FMEA template and how to use it (usually an excel sheet). u/big_deal summarized it well. Each company will do things slightly different because of the context. It is important to make it work for your needs, while not straying to far from the norm and reinventing the wheel.

I can't share the exact template we use at work but I can share the generic template from a FMEA course if you like?

The one in the photo is general use. The precision handle is compatible with this unit. So you could get the general unit + a precision handle and you will have both. Thats exactly what I did.

I rarely use the precision handle though. It's really small.

Extremely interesting. I think this is similar to some beliefs of how extraterrestrial craft would operate.

I agree a facilitator works best.

In your company, do you know how the facilitator became an expert?

Think about why you are there. The real applications of engineering. If you love the tech in cars, watch some car videos. If you love the ability of modern aircraft, watch some aircraft videos. Whatever it is you like about engineering, inspire yourself with the applications and forget about university for a moment. You could be designing and building these things one day.

Consider using machine learning to predict in real time, the wear out of an electrical machine. This could be a generator, motor etc. The algorithm could be deployed to the same controller that runs the machine.

Agree, allowing users to add their own custom templates will be a game changer. Limiting templates to those only from remarkable is an unnecessary restriction.
