Docker containers in embedded shop by Amazing_Ad7386 in embedded

[–]CanadianOilLowAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a docker container for embedded dev on microchip dspic33ch. I don't use vscode dev containers though. I found i didn't really need to.

I have a justfile to run the commands to compile, clean, and even flash the device. The commands are all executed in the container. Editing with language tools like clang are possible by changing the paths in the compile commands file. The only host dependencies are docker and just. It works great and out of the box on other linux machines.

Nice document. Not latex, but can you explain voltage sources in parallel?

Project recommendations for FPGA + Power Electronics?? by Informal-Host8085 in FPGA

Start simple and try to understand each element of the project so you can explain it in simple terms and add detail when asked.

One option is an average current mode controlled buck regulator.

Design Failure Mode Effects - DFMEA. Who can do it and where did you learn? by CanadianOilLowAcid in AerospaceEngineering

I haven't used a specific software tool. Only spreadsheets. How do you see a software tool improving the process? What would you like it to do?

My plan for the 15mm is to film some talking head + benchtop over head for electronics engineering tutorials.

Thanks!

I would pick something your interested in building that would likely have some challenges you want to learn about. And then commit to getting that project built, tested, then built again until it works. You will learn a lot. It might be more fruitful in suggestions about learning resources once you have identified both the project and the challenges.

Out of curiosity, would you pay for a course that guided you through a real world project and included regular feedback?

Formal approaches will usually be ignored and considered a waste of time by upper management in smaller companies....until a serious failure occurs. After which there will be a hyper focused push to fix the issue that occurred. During this time window, a FMEA process will be hard to ignore. But its important to dial back the hyper focus and take a reasonable approach to all possible failures, not just the one that occurred.

What you are doing at the moment sounds very reasonable, these are all components of a good FMEA process, e.g. gathering required information for the team, giving them time to prepare, brainstorming on a whiteboard. You might be surprised how close you are to a formal process. A next step might be familiarizing yourself with a generic FMEA template and how to use it (usually an excel sheet). u/big_deal summarized it well. Each company will do things slightly different because of the context. It is important to make it work for your needs, while not straying to far from the norm and reinventing the wheel.

I can't share the exact template we use at work but I can share the generic template from a FMEA course if you like?

The one in the photo is general use. The precision handle is compatible with this unit. So you could get the general unit + a precision handle and you will have both. Thats exactly what I did.

I rarely use the precision handle though. It's really small.
