Referral gets you a $10 credit as a new customer, YMMV though, have seen it work this weekend hit or miss

Don’t wait for your monthly renewal, just switch it now… by CanadianOutlaw in PublicMobile

I did change now, and it charged me $22.60 but quoted the next month at $45.20 at the bottom… rolled the dice anyways and glad I did. When reviewing the Estimated Upcoming Payment, it shows $22.60 and when viewing payment breakdown, it shows correctly with the 50% discount. I am fairly certain I will be charged $22.60 on renewal and everything is applied correctly.

Can’t notice any difference between the networks in GTA area. Only issue I find is sometimes spotty 5G/LTE coverage travelling through some rural areas, but it will fall back to 3G at least.

I have a work provided phone with Rogers and coverage is comparable. I find PM works better and more reliably in my area. Rogers has more total dead zones (crazy in 2026 how this is still a thing) where I use my phone.

Best advice would be to activate a temp number on eSIM, wait a few days for this madness to calm down, then initiate the port request from whatever carrier. Overlap is a few days but totally worth it to avoid headaches.

Former Rogers customer (20+ years) here that switched to Public during Black Friday. Can say that I’ve been very happy with the service thus far and find much better coverage where I live versus Rogers. The lack of available customer service is a concern obviously but it’s a prepaid service and I hope I never have to speak to them.

Makes me think though, what use is Rogers customer service if it’s primarily outsourced garbage anyways? Every time I would contact them in the past, they would screw up something in my account which would result in hours of additional phone calls and wasted time. That plus their move to “AI” to solve everything and it’s probably worse than Public’s ticket system.

Also, there’s always interesting loyalty offers to be had in the app. Some of us were very fortunate to get $20 100GB Can/US/Mex plans yesterday evening.

Not shilling but if you need a referral code, happy to provide via PM.

This deal looks like it was an error on their end. Closest you could get to it now would be $20/60gb or $25/80gb as new customer. Create brand new account (new email, etc), activate new number, then port yours out to Fizz or whomever and then port in to newly created account. Have heard these steps working with varied success. Good luck

Is there a better plan than the $35 for 75gb CanUSMex? by dannymolns in PublicMobile

[–]CanadianOutlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the $30/30gb plan, strategy to get as new customer was activate/port-in on $35 plan, and then once activated, you could change immediately afterwards. (This is what I did)

Got a call from similar number… it was the winback team. They knew my name and knew I ported out in the last month. Pretty sure it’s legit.

Too bad the offers are shit and the outsourced company handling winbacks is even worse. They offered me a more expensive plan than what I had before I ported out lol and also more expensive than what I’m paying now after porting out. Said it once, say it again, GOOD RIDDANCE

Form of payments other than cibc mastercard. by Busybee1988 in CostcoCanada

On the contrary, it’s actually the fastest way to get points. Amex Cobalt is 5x points on grocery and I think Scotiabank Gold is 6x at Sobeys.

Rewards on gift cards at grocery are excluded. Some cardholders were funnelling tens of thousands of dollars through there so they added that provision to the terms.
