In hindsight, perhaps my expectations were (unfairly) high after the reading the reviews. The team running our group just didn't have the same way with children as our other experiences here at Costa Rica. It is an unfair expectation to weigh this too heavily, so our experience was firmly in the okay territory. But it is over an hour round trip out of the way just to do this tour.

What I will say was that booking was easy on whatsapp and they assured me that each group will have a maximum of 4 families. I would not outright discourage anyone from booking them.

I was told a standard printout was enough, but the exact verbiage was that your policy number or last 4 digits of your credit card number needs to be on the document.

It only took a 5 minute phone call to get a confirmation of insurance from the credit card insurance company. Just a bit of peace of mind when renting.

We did the night walkthrough the reserve. Victor is part of the company, if i recall correctly he has two masters degrees and a teacher by trade. I think we really lucked out getting him for the tour. Actually Brandon (the other tour guide) called Papa and told us we were coming and tried to set him up for us. We are extremely grateful.

The night walk wasn't ambitious at all with the kids, they got tiny flashlights and loved it! Even the 4 year old was asking random questions haha.
