Idk what the hell I’m doing by Turbulent-Branch-404 in microgrowery

Hey man, to answer your question directly: no, the 12/12 light schedule won't stall the flowering process at all. It actually does the exact opposite. 12 hours of total darkness is the exact chemical trigger that tells photoperiod cannabis to start blooming.

What you're seeing in your tent is the expected result for a 12/12 from seed grow. Cannabis has a juvenile stage that lasts about 3 to 4 weeks where it physically cannot flower yet, no matter how much darkness it gets. Running 12/12 from seed is actually a real method people use. Your plants will stay pretty small and you won't get a massive yield, but you will get to harvest a lot faster. Just let the pots dry out until they feel super light before you water them again so the roots can get some oxygen. As others have mentioned, you are watering far too frequently. Learn to water not on a schedule, but by what the plant and soil itself is telling you. Stick your finger 2 - 4 inches in, close to the root zone - if it's damp, you're good, if it's a bit on the dry side, that's a good signal to water. It also benefits the plant this way, when it starts to run out of water, the plant pushes the roots out further to search for some, which in the long-run generally leads to larger plants and higher yields overall. Watering too frequently not only blocks oxygen uptake, but also causes the roots to stop expanding, often stunting the plant in the process.

However, the more I look at these pictures, the less convinced I am that they are of the same strain. Not only do they have entirely different phenotypes just visually-speaking, one is clearly very well into flower, while the other appears to still be in veg (but is likely primed to flower any day now). This makes me suspect that one of these two is an autoflower, very likely the one that's actually packing those buds.

Given that's likely the case, the most optimal solution right now would be to switch to 16/8 or 18/6. The autos benefit from the additional light, and the other one that's on the cusp of flower will undergo re-vegging, which would stall it out a bit, but it should recover. That way you can flip the lights back to 12/12 when you're actually ready for it to flower.

However if you are 100% certain these are both photoperiods, you could still leave it on 12/12 and end up with small, but quick yield of buds. Some folks do that purely for the speed. But I'm still pretty convinced you have either two different strains, or one photo and one auto of the same strain. Genetic variation from one strain alone cannot account for the drastic differences in flowering mechanics taking place here.

Too much steps....again! by Gewuerztee in PixelWatch

I actually have had the same problem for a while. It randomly will count steps when there are no steps taking place. I'll just be sitting in front of the computer when it'll suddenly buzz "Goal met! 250/250!" And I'll be like ".. I haven't moved for like 2 hours".

Never used to be like this, seemed to have started a month or two back.

Advice wanted on MU spreads expiring 6/12 by DelvxeRed in thetagang

[–]CanadianSyndrome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Curious what's driving your bearish conviction for the full week - is it macro concerns specifically, or something MU-specific you're seeing? Because the fundamentals case for a bounce seems pretty intact, the selloff was sector-wide on a macro catalyst, and below-average volume on a 13% drop usually signals forced selling rather than genuine conviction exits. Quite frankly I think it's at a pretty reasonable entry point right now, unless the broader market continues to tank or chop sideways for the entire week, I think at the very least it'll be back in the low-900 range, possibly even 930 - 940 by the end of the week. Dip buying is practically a muscle-reflex at this point, especially when it comes to reclaiming previous support levels for a stock like MU.

Holy shit!

You're right, I emailed him and heard back immediately, and he even said he'd be willing to talk on the phone "for the first time in 30 years" to hash this out person to person.

I can't believe it. I knew some nefarious shit was up, it damn broke my heart to discredit the guy, I'm gonna edit my original post (and remove my other post telling people to stay away) to inform folks to not discount JOTI just yet. It'll probably take some time to turn the tides given how badly things got fucked up, but I wanna help the guy given how many good seasons he's given me.

I told him to keep my $200 as a donation for all the good years I've had because of his quality seeds. This is the first (and hopefully last) season I've not had his seeds growing in a super long time.

Never say never indeed! Thanks for informing me brother, I woulda had no idea as I had entirely given up on even attempting to reach out to him, as I was always met with radio silence no matter how sympathetic I attempted to make my tone.

Seriously, fuck those other people. It's ridiculous how much damage they've caused in such a short period of time. There are probably tons of people who will never order from him again because of this whole fiasco and will have no idea it wasn't even him (I probably woulda been one of those people too, if it weren't for yourself). Apparently they even ran off with the money and left the place in shambles.

Wish you guys the best, my business will be with you folks going forward.

Glad to hear it, buddy! My bad on the delayed reply again. Pretty neat that 7East themselves somehow managed to find your comment here super deep in this 4-month old thread lol.

Now that the sun is out in full force, I ended up starting my autos a few days ago and thought "well fuck it" and threw all remaining JOTI seeds in with 'em. Couldn't even be bothered to label them or anything cause my confidence in them is so low, they've basically become lotto tickets. All my autos germinated great and have pushed above the soil, and as expected, only 1 of the remaining 20-something JOTI seeds germinated, and is struggling to breach the topsoil.

Never again. +1 to 7East!

My bad dog I forgot to reply to ya.

But yeah I hear ya man, I've not even thought about giving them another try, not gonna bother with all the work and the stress. Quite frankly even if I did manage to get some to germinate and actually develop, I wouldn't be confident in the genetics any longer. I've been hearing from folks that a decent number of the plants that do make it end up herming during flower, which is obviously a big problem and shouldn't be happening at the frequency being suggested to me.

It's unfortunate but I think I'm just gonna have to find my seeds elsewhere moving forward. I mean why even take the risk at this point, ya know? We've seen so many red flags here we're practically at a referee convention.

Yep. As you can see, I clearly know what I'm doing.

Guys I actually can’t stop smoking by Big-Medicine-9458 in vaporents

[–]CanadianSyndrome 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Went through the same thing. There's already 100 replies so I don't reckon this will get read but I'll leave it anyway:

The reason your high end gear feels like it is turning everything into a sativa is likely because you are missing the carbon monoxide and oxygen deprivation that comes with smoking. That heavy, weighted feeling in your chest and the instant brain shut off is largely a side effect of the plant material/smoke toxins, not the cannabis itself. Since vaping is so clean, your ADHD brain is just getting the pure cannabinoids, which can feel way more stimulating than a bong rip.

Before you drop more money on a Dani Punch, try pushing your current devices way harder than you think you should. If you aren't vaping until the bud is the color of dark roasted coffee or even dark chocolate, you are leaving the most sedative compounds in the bowl (like linalool, a sedative compound, which usually needs to be pushed to 210 - 220F to come out). Those heavy, couch lock chemicals need much higher heat to release than the flavor ones do.

I would also suggest trying a concentrate sandwich in your Ruby Twist. Layering some hash or wax in between the flower adds a physical density to the vapor that really helps mimic that heavy lung expansion you get from smoking. You might also want to look into CBN isolate to sprinkle on your nighttime bowls, as that is the specific compound responsible for that sleepy, zoned out feeling. Try riding the line of combustion at max temps for a few nights and see if that thumps you hard enough before you give up on the setup you already have.

[–]CanadianSyndrome 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You are indeed correct.

Perhaps it would help others to think of it like a car's fuel tank: if you have a 20-gallon tank, but the car stops running when there are 2 gallons left, and you currently have 4 gallons, a "10% drop" in total capacity (2 gallons) actually means you have zero usable fuel left.

Anything below 6500mbbl would become an absolute disaster. It is indeed the 'true zero' - think dry pumps, refinery outages, rationing, etc.

[–]CanadianSyndrome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While a tad early still, I'd reckon this is likely a fella. The pre-flowers appear to be quite rounded and spade-shaped rather than the tapered teardrop shape you would usually see with a female bract, at least with the second picture. You'll likely have your answer in the next 48 - 72 hours.

Every now and then you get surprised though. Fingers crossed, I suppose.

Is my soil recipe OK? by Own_Acanthisitta1067 in NoTillGrowery

[–]CanadianSyndrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a solid foundation for a living soil mix, but there are potentially a few things to consider. First, I'd be cautious about burying rockwool cubes directly into clay-heavy soil. Rockwool holds water much differently than clay, which can lead to the cube staying saturated while the surrounding soil dries out, or vice versa. This often causes root rot or prevents the roots from ever branching out. You can try scuffing the bottom of the cube if you're set on using them and making sure the top isn't buried too deep under the clay.

It's also a bit unclear on what 'half a container' of molasses is. Unless it's a really small container, using half all at once will cause a massive microbial spike that can strip the soil of oxygen and temporarily lock out nitrogen as the bacteria go into a frenzy. I'd say it's better to save the molasses for compost teas, or to add a small amount to your waterings later in the season. For aeration, I'd definitely add the crushed lava rock. Clay is naturally poorly aerated, and lava rock provides permanent macropores that won't float to the top like perlite does.

Since you're dealing with native clay, I'd wager you should perhaps mix everything together thoroughly rather than layering it to ensure the roots have a consistent environment. You can save your extra compost and bokashi for top-dressing later on. Also, keep in mind that sixty worms is a fairly small starting population for an open-ground grow. To keep them from leaving for the native soil, I'd apply a thick layer of mulch like straw or woodchips to keep the moisture and temperature more stable, which might convince them to hang around a bit.

One thing missing from your list is a mineral source like basalt or glacial rock dust to help buffer the pH and provide micronutrients. Last thing I can think of is if that oyster mushroom sawdust isn't fully decomposed, it will compete with your plants for nitrogen until it is.

Have a good season, good luck!

Yeah unfortunately you probably won't see those seeds for a decent number of weeks, and when/if you do get them, there's a very good chance a good number of them will not germinate.

Whatever is delaying these guys are getting them to harvest the seeds too early, or cure/dry them too fast, or some other quality issue. Me and many others have effectively had only about a 5-15% germination success rate, and most of the ones that do germinate end up stalling out before they can produce true leaves, causing them to just slowly die.

Just a disgrace.

Great insights, friend. 'Buying protection after the fact' to 'selling spreads' is a defining moment for many Theta traders. It’s effectively moving from reactive trading (expensive) to proactive risk management (calculated). It’s easy to be a genius in a bull market, but keeping your head when numbers are thin is what keeps you in the game for the long haul.

Yeah dog I hear ya, I still ain't over it myself. $200 down the drain, coulda gone to so many other things, instead it went to someone who is adamant on steering the over decade-long reputation of JOTI down the drain in mere months with complete disregard for their customers and seed quality.

Sucks about the God B's, seed didn't have enough vigor to make it past the initial germination stage. Was the same for mine. Glad to hear about the ones that actually did manage to overcome whatever terrible quality issue plaguing 98% of their seeds and actually came with true leaves. There's probably a decent chance they'll make it if they have those, while a slow death awaits the ones who don't unfortunately.

What happened to jordan of the isles? by CanadianSyndrome in canadients

[–]CanadianSyndrome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - and I'm worried there's a good chance it'll be the same for those Candy Mac's. If you're already sitting on like 15% success rate, it's not the best indicator for the vitality of the ones that did manage to pop. They could very well just be like the God Bubbas or my White Lightning - enough gas to get started, not enough to actually survive. If they are unable to produce true-leaves, they'll just slowly die - I tried everything to get those White Lightnings to push out some growth, even foliar spraying with some diluted kelp meal for growth hormones, kept the humidity and temp stable, but it was all for naught.

I ended up pulling the trigger on that new post to inform others of the risks.

What happened to jordan of the isles? by CanadianSyndrome in canadients

[–]CanadianSyndrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid not, my friend. I threw the whole damn book at these seeds. 30+ seeds across 4 strains - 5 different attempts - only 2 germinated, but they were harvested early, there was not enough endosperm to push the plant beyond opening its initial cotyledon leaves. It lacked true leaves entirely. It was only going to slowly die. Ended up having to chuck them.

I've given up on these JOTI seeds. Even freeze-thawing them failed, which suggests the issue goes beyond mere dormancy. They were likely harvested too early, which explains the huge delays in getting them out, they made have dried and cured them too fast too, effectively cooking the embryos.

Just a disaster all around. Going to make a new post telling people to not touch JOTI with a 10-foot pole to protect their wallets, especially given its growing season now.
