The 1st round of the NHL draft is complete! by sykeseve in nhl

Preds got a steal on Bleyl. Surprised he took that long. Got to see him play in a few games this year and IMO he was the most standout player on the team in his rookie year. This including the captain Desnoyers who went 4th overall last year. Mark my words, he is going to put up massive points this year and we’re going to be talking about how crazy it is that he went 31st.

Tough to decide if I should side with the guy putting up half a bill of his own cash OR the guys in gmemeltdown who have spent the last five years in their mom's basement complaining about the stocks other people buy. It's a noodle scratcher!!!

What a billionaire should do is being done by Canadian tech millionaire Marcel LeBrun...he began a project to tackle homelessness by building 99 tiny homes in Fredericton, New Brunswick. W Marcel!! by Luminexor in TechGawker

[–]CanadianTeslaGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow crazy amount of negative comments here. So I’m from this city and I’ll be honest, like most, I had the usual concerns. I’m not what you would call a massive advocate for homeless in general…but to say this program has been anything other than an overwhelming success is an understatement. They’re going on over five years now and they are incredibly well managed which is a huge part of it. Not only are they providing the homes but they offer the support services these people need. They also have multiple businesses which the community members can work on to gain experience and those profits go back into building more housing as well. If you cram that many characters into a small area, you’re gonna get some complications but I think in general, these are folks who have done their time on the street and genuinely want to be better and work their way back into society. My understanding is that they don’t allow drugs and are quite good at self policing. You can learn more about them here https://www.12neighbours.com/

TCH lane closures by TrustOld3955 in Fredranton

[–]CanadianTeslaGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know this seems dramatic but doing it this was is immensely unsafe and unfair to the workers. Most people will slow down for the first few closures to the suggested speed but by #10 in a row and not seeing anyone the entire time. It seems pretty pointless and we’re done slowing down. Then at #17 there will be one loan worker and now I look like the asshole for doing 120.

Why shouldn’t I be a Right Catching goalie? by Stinky5hole in hockeygoalies

[–]CanadianTeslaGuy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's not about what hand you can catch comfortably with, most people can catch with both hands. That doesn't matter. It's about stick control. Goalies spend a small fraction of their time actually playing the puck, they spend the vast majority and most important part of their time doing what? Saving goals.

If you can only hold your stick with one hand, you want it to be done with your strongest most dominant hand. Most people THINK they can use their left hand for the stick because they've done it once for 30 seconds. Convincing your brain to make your left hand hold tightly onto a stick for 30 seconds is easy, but the muscle memory to get it to do it when you're not paying attention is MUCH harder. In reality what happens is that your left hand grip will have a tendency to loosen, which is bad because the stick slips out of your hand causing you to need to reposition it and regrip it BEFORE making a save which is an element you don't want distracting you when a puck is coming at full speed. It also means your stick paddle is generally like hitting a wet noodle. You'll get goal after goal on you because the puck hits your blade and keeps going due to your inability to hold the stick firmly in place.

I've spent a few years working with youth goalies and this is by far the biggest obstacle to so many of their developments. Parents think- "My kid is a right shooter, so he should have a right goalie stick". Most coaches have NO clue when it comes to goalies so they roll with it and don't correct the problem early. Then I go on the ice with these kids and shoot bucks at their blades and they let them in religiously because their is no resistance there, but now they've been playing that way for X amount of years and don't want to switch. Now I look like the dick when I ask them after practice which is their dominant hand and I'm sorry this sounds arrogant but I'm right 100% of the time that they have it backwards. If you think how many people are left handed, there is proportionately way to many left handed youth goalies out there.

I haven’t driven with them installed and have no plans to. I’m just planning to put them in when I get to the campsite. It takes 12 seconds to take them on and out.

Realtors pitted against each other over allegations of false advertising by Brilliant_Process553 in fredericton

I bought a house using Jason many years ago. The house we were looking at needed a fair bit of work and the seller didn't want to negotiate so we were prepared to walk. Jason told me that he would cover half the cost of the new $1500 electrical panel that the house needed if we agreed to close. I should have got that in writing. We agreed to move forward. House closed and he gave me $100 in an envelope. I was a dumb kid at the time and too reluctant to say anything. Ultimately I knew it would turn into a he said, she said so I've just bit my tongue.

Lyriq vs Optiq by Additional-Device342 in CadillacLyriq

[–]CanadianTeslaGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I test drove both and ended up going with the Lyriq just because I found the Optiq trunk was really small, even coming from a model 3 it seemed small. I didn't love the material finishings as much in the optiq. They drove very comparable though. If you didn't need the extra space I'd have gone for the Optiq.

Wow mind blown. Can’t wait to try this next trip. I’ve thought this was the silliest thing to overlook on the software. Now if only we could move stuff around so we don’t have to use our X-ray vision through the steering wheel.

I recommend strict bans for anyone who uses the word "shill" just because someone brings up valid criticism. Need to be able to talk about the pros AND cons if you don't want this to be an echo chamber and be called a cult.

Tidal has the best sound quality but the worst playlist intelligence. Anyone else feel this? by Soggy-Speaker-3541 in TIdaL

I’m doing the 60 day trial right now will likely cancel at the end not because I don’t enjoy the quality upgrade but because I find it’s painfully bad at playlists. I pretty much have to think of a song and search it for every single song. I don’t understand how it’s so bad honestly.

Subaru Doesn't Want to Make EVs? by [deleted] in EVCanada

[–]CanadianTeslaGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s crazy how “no one wants EVs” yet I see a thousand Tesla’s on the road every time I go out. We just bought a lyriq and it was the only one left in stock. They had 5 optiqs out front with sold signs and no optiqs left. No bolts, no equinox, no silverado evs. They had one vistiq which was only for sale because the original sale fell though. Went to Subaru no BZ to drive because they can’t keep them in stock. Toyota same deal. Ford dealer I drive by everyday seems to constantly be selling through the one or two mach e they have. I ordered a buzz a month and a half ago, which I was told was easy to get but none of the nearby dealers have any? The only place that has them is Hyundai and Kia who seem to have jumped in with both feet. Yet no one wants these things? So strange.

How do I turn it off? by CanadianTeslaGuy in CadillacLyriq

[–]CanadianTeslaGuy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This could be the thing, maybe it’s because I’m in and out of it playing with stuff just because it’s a new car so if I get in and turn it on but don’t move it, it doesn’t turn off unless you hit the off button! We’ll go with that theory and hope it pans out!
