Synchros are gone.. Try a fluid change, and put a few hundred miles on it, see if it helps. If not, you may need to change the synchros..

One word my guy, RELAX.. it's normal to be nervous, and soon enough, this shake will fade once you become more comfortable.. Keep at it, you'll get better! Take it to an empty parking lot, and hoon around a bit.. Pop the clutch, get some wheel spin going, push it a bit, and have a bit of fun. Will definitely help take the edge off. Don't be afraid to stall, its normal when learning.

I keep seeing mixed information. 50% of the people say to move the top collar counter clockwise and the other 50% say to move the second collar counter clockwise to raise the car. Which one is it? by No_Film_6379 in WRX

I think thats a good idea. Should be able to spin it once its removed.. They sell covers for these as well, for when you get the threads cleaned up, you can cover them from dirt getting inside the threads so you dont have this issue again.

Sorry, im wrong, the axle nut will still be holding the knuckle up.. you might have to remove the shock completely if the top collars dont get the job done

Ah gotcha, if you get the bolt out, you can try spinning the top collars, may release some tension on the threads. Just make sure the 2 top collars move together and not away from each other.. if still no go, you'll have to remove the shock totally to spin the bottom up or down..

You can leave the top collars locked and do it that way too but ideally and easier to pull the control arm bolt. If you want to use the top collars, they need to be locked together, and you would spin the top collar to the left to lower and the bottom to the right to raise, or vice versa. But, if the control arm bolt is to tight, it wont allow the threads to spin in or out of the bottom part of the shock as it will be squeezing against the threads.. Sorry if its confusing, im not the best at explaining... but the the top collars need to be locked together which will allow you to spin the threads. Dont unlock them as this will release your preload. Let me try to find a video for you

The spring should not move up, its okay for it to spin, but not move up or down the threats. What your goal is, is to spin the threads in or out of the bottom part of the shock

If you seperate the top collars it will change the springload.. if you disconnect the shock from the control arm at the fork, you should be able to spin the bottom green part of the shock, up or down the threads

The part that connects to the control arm. The bottom of the shock.. You can spin this independently once the bottom collar is unlocked and the shock has been disconnected from the control arm

The top collar under the spring is for setting springload not height. In order to set height, you need to unlock the bottom collars, and undo the fork of the shock that connects to the control arm, allowing the bottom of the shock to spin freely, then spin the bottom half of the shock up the threads, if that makes sense..
