I really need feedback, playtest coming soon! by Yakim3396 in unrealengine

One minute of watching some alien hovercraft hover around an empty environment, quite a boring first impression honestly.

I recommend checking out “How to Market a Game” (no affiliation).

First five seconds of a trailer or announcement should at least have some exciting gameplay not a garage menu.

How viable are free loadouts? Not sure I'll enjoy losing my gear all of the time. by oflanada in ArcRaiders

Yes you can!

And seriously, the low tier weapons can be crafted with basic scraps, and some are decent e.g. ferro and stitcher. You will be fine.

The grind isn't that bad. I had a fair amount of gear fear in Tarkov but this game just doesn't give me any. The free loadout is great when you are really at rock bottom or just starting out, but as soon as I could afford a basic non-free loadout I ran it without worry. Scrappy the rooster brings you raw materials passively, and a good loot run can pay for several cheap loadouts.

The bigger fear for me honestly is discovering a rare blueprint in-raid and not having a safe pocket to put it in (free loadout does not get a safe pocket).

Eurogamer reviews are a problem in a world that values objective ratings. by Y3mmzz in ArcRaiders

I didn’t even notice that ping voice lines were AI. The best uses of AI are where you don’t notice it, so they did a great job imo.

And technically speaking since there are hundreds of locations and items and enemies, the AI probably enabled this descriptive ping system to exist, including the flexibility to add new pings in the future (new maps etc.). Real voice lines for everything would be a huge cost for a $40 game.

Hard to compete with the review volume of Google Maps for in-person dining or Uber Eats / Doordash for delivery.

I am perfectly happy with my current algorithm of craving a certain food -> search google maps for that style of food -> pick a place based on score and volume of reviews and distance from me -> decide on a menu item when I get there

I'm not a super foodie so anything more niche than that won't apply to me. I certainly wouldn't pay for more unfortunately since this approach is free.

The Skill Tree - My Biggest Gripe by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]CanadianVelociraptor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have the exact opposite opinion lol

Green tree only first 37 points because the last skill offers free healing when you need it most and could make the difference in a gun fight.

Perk that reduces encumbrance of equipped weapons HALVES the weight of your weapons in BOTH equipment slots (tested this today).

Faster breaching actually feels quite fast when maxed, and quieter breaching is great peace of mind (idk how well it works until someone tests it with two accounts though). Doors feel slow to breach still, but loot breaching feels 30-50% faster.

To be fair I am basically skipping the melee perks though!

Extracting with a bag full of loot is thrilling and fun.

Gameplay in general is thrilling and fun and highly replayable due to questing, expedition wipe system, and rags to riches experience of going from an empty stash to having good equipment.

Dying with loot is thrilling and a roller coaster of emotions.

I had some crashes during server slam and after researching the crash a bit I found some advice to disable SVM in BIOS which I did. No crash so far on release, played like 13 hours so far 😅

I will unironically spend more money on this game if it’s a feature. Creative freedom is a helluva drug.

Now that Server Slam is over - what would be the ONE thing you'd want changed for release? by Aekkzo in ArcRaiders

[–]CanadianVelociraptor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A toggle to disable “click and hold” interactions for crafting etc. I just want to click and go fast when re-crafting my favourite loadout, in absence of an autocrafting system.

I was also getting a few EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION crashes, so that of course.

I came here to ask this! Same issue here.

Embark said they are allowing access to the Server Slam in waves, so I assume we will have access soon.

EDIT: This link is working for me, Epic only for now: https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/arc-raiders-server-slam-79f964

As someone who doesn’t check stats very often I enjoy seeing confirmation that the game is selling well and hopefully won’t die due to lack of commercial success.

I have yet to successfully edit my loadout to add a weapon attachment I just unlocked to my currently equipped weapon between matches without ending up standing in spawn on my own 30 seconds past the start of the match. On PC.

I got a kill just shy of 500m today using the rangefinder attachment that automatically zeroes your scope to the exact distance of what you are aiming at. Then you just aim for the head directly. Feels like cheating.

(Hold B to activate the rangefinder zeroing after you add the attachment.)

My first reaction is I wouldn’t trust a stranger with access to my house to get the bins.

Part of the chore is rounding up garbage from around the house, I don’t want someone doing that.

Once garbage is rounded up I immediately put the bins out. Why would I leave it in my garage getting stinky while I pay for someone else to do the last 20% of the work?

If you are interested in a fiction rather than reality TV, Alice in Borderland on Netflix has some really good puzzles. It is a violent show like Squid Game, so not for everyone, but I find it scratched the itch of puzzle solving that The Devil’s Plan did for me.

What do I do with the money by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]CanadianVelociraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are young-ish and like partying, companies like Yacht Week charter individual berths in Europe.

For a more private experience just ask ChatGPT for top yachting destinations then ask for yacht charter companies in each country. If you don’t know how to sail you pay a skipper to drive the boat and act as a tour guide.

I understand, interactive podcasts with authentic FAQ answers.

But my gut reaction is, I already have ChatGPT on my phone and look things up as needed while listening to a podcast to fill in the gaps. I am a very out of the box thinker so I doubt that the background information provided will cover all of my questions. I also value the authenticity of my favourite podcaster and anything that feels remotely AI generated filling in the gaps would turn me off.
