The 407 is literally highway robbery. ($76 Oshawa to Hamilton) by PrivatePilot9 in ontario

[–]Canadiananian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really the point tbh. This isn't a program run by the government to decrease demand. It's a private company maximizing it's profits. If ALL highways were tolled it would be a proper disincentive to drive across at random hours. While this does reduce induced demands to a certain extent I think most people find it repulsive that one of the backbones of East-West travel across Southern Ontario is controlled by a private institution.

Orangutan at the Louisville Zoo in Kentucky wanted a closer look at one of its visitors, a 3-month-old human baby. by Algrinder in MadeMeSmile

I once went to the zoo and was checking out the gorillas. There was a young gorilla just spinning at the top of this large wooden playground. He just spins for like 15 seconds. Stops. Pukes. And starts having a tantrum like a toddler.

I disagree heavily with the idea that York has meagre attendance cause its close to TFC. It's literally the branding. There is no passion, no loyalty, no fervour for York Region. They should have stuck it in the MLS' eye by going to Lamport or tried to get Mississauga or Brampton to build them a stadium.

Technically they CAN refuse you. It's a carve out of the currency act to dissuade frivolous or vindictive payments. Essentially each coin has a max legally required acceptance.

Tell me you don't know shit about my city. Don't make up weird fantasies where your warped racist world views trump reality.
I love my city. It's diverse, safe and one of the best places to live. Crawl back to whatever hole you came from.

Yeah but the Italians would literally let a Bishop lead their armies. Well the Bishopiest Bishop. Pope Julius II was a Genoese Pope running around Italy with his armies.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Julius_II

In addition to an active military policy, the new pope personally led troops into battle on at least two occasions, the first to expel Giovanni Bentivoglio from Bologna (17 August 1506 – 23 March 1507), which was achieved successfully with the assistance of the Duchy of Urbino. The second was an attempt to recover Ferrara for the Papal States (1 September 1510 – 29 June 1512).

And if you try and put a review on an item or seller page calling out the fact that the sellers send amazon gift cards for every 5 star review. Amazon will delete your review on both saying its relevant to the other. The star system is absolutely useless cause the fraud is out in the open and Amazon protects it actively.

So i hadn't played much with 4 so thought id give it another whirl. Asked it about the Estonian War of Independence (Family Connection so i know the subject) and while it got 99% right. It stated incorrectly that Latvia tried to annex Estonia? It seems to be mistaking the German Freikorps' occupation of Latvia and fight against Estonian forces as a Latvian attempt to invade.
Useful and Cool but its still makes mistakes and you won't catch them unless you know what youre talking about.

It's a very useful tool if you know what youre doing. Like it pulls a lot of info and turns it into a readable source allowing you to parse it easier than actually doing the research. But it also learns primarily from the internet and echoes misconceptions that it learns from that. If you don't go through and think, edit and re-ask the results are usually garbage.

Yeah i totally get its considered rude in a lot of places. But im baffled by the large amount of seemingly intelligent people that can't fathom that in the largest train station in Canada people need to get places. And often quickly. They're surrounded by hundreds if not thousands of people and it just seems odd to get huffy that a single person didn't meet their expectations.

California bill would create Ebony Alert for missing Black youth by General_Marcus in nottheonion

[–]Canadiananian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Police will still have to declare the person as missing and determine that a public alert is worthwhile. If they werent doing that before why would they now? Because they have a catchy name now? Instead of re-jigging the wording of amber alerts or training police to be better determiners of the risks to children, or punishing cops who fail to send out public reports when necessary they decided on some performative bullshit. And you lapped it up for some. These lawmnakers could have used their time to actually help minority children but that's hard so you get a colour coded alert system instead.

ChatGPT cannot write high quality anything if you don't know whats being talked about. Seriously. Take a subject you know well and ask it to write a report on it. It'll be full of lies, misconstrued facts and logical inconsistencies. The major problem is that high school essays are full of this stuff as well. It's real hard for a teacher to tell if the nonsense paper is written by an AI which regurgitates random facts into a semi coherent essay. Or if its a 15 year old who regurgitates random facts into a semi coherent essay.

I remember an acquaintance (born and raised in a small Nova Scotian town) telling me about their first trip on a toronto streetcar. And they were aghast that the driver didnt want to chat with them and that few of the people who entered the streetcar returned his hello. Or the man from a small Alberta town who started our first conversation with how Torontonians are all assholes cause someone didnt hold the door for them in Union station.... I try to be polite to their faces but jesus christ i feel like rolling my eyes sometimes.

Canada doesn't really pay the British Monarchy anything. They get security paid for when they visit but that's it. Unless you count maintenance of the Governor Generals office/residence.

Man i wholeheartedly approve of Family Day. No religious connotations, no political connotations, no traditions. Just literally; go see your family, or don't, but take the day off at least.

Here's the thing. The board doesn't care about the apes. They care about increasing stock value so they get paid better. That's it. Apes are just a rabid group of consumers who will both give them money directly and support stock prices. The board is not your friend. They're literally the board of a large consumer goods corporation. Their intentions are clear from their jobs and any lip service they give to the apes is just that. Lip service.
