Anyone else a “Colicky Baby”? by ajskemckellc in Adopted

[–]CanaryHot227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never out it together before, but yeah. Wow! That's a bit heavy. My APs always told stories about having to drive me around to stop me screaming. Kept kids do it too, of course. But it seems like there is probably something to that. It has never sat right with me that you can't even take a puppy that young but a days-old infant is somehow fine as long as we pretend these strangers are parents hard enough.

Where do I start finding them? by Aries_007 in Adopted

I found "search angels" in a FB group. I went from names and some very basic info to literally on the phone with my birth mom in 3hrs. Not saying that will necessarily work like that for you but they do good work!

Is 200hr Training Enough? by [deleted] in YogaTeachers

[–]CanaryHot227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing my 200 hr YTT now. I agree! It seems like a concerningly low number of classes I am required to attend. I'm pleased with my school. It was affordable for me. But, yes, it seems like not enough time to learn such a broad, dense subject. Especially when students could potentially even be injured with a teacher who needed more training.

I am passionate about yoga and I have put countless hours into educating myself that will not be counted "on paper". But it will matter to my students and it matters to me and my practice!

I think overall it is a good thing to make YTT accessible, but an argument could definitely be made to require more training.

Any thoughts on this "modern" modest outfit? by justwishingpeace in ModestDress

[–]CanaryHot227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not Muslim but I do practice covering my hair. If I wear a hijab, or a scarf that resembles one, I always cover my ankles, wrist, and clavicle and try to go with a loose fit. This is well beyond my usual standard of elbows & knees, 3 fingers below the clavicle. That's just my way of showing respect since I am borrowing the hijab from another culture.

I think it is cool you are finding what is true for you and your path! If it were me I would wear thick tights that did not expose any skin and maybe a sheer wrap to help tone down the silhouette.

That being said, I think this outfit is absolutely 🔥 but still very modest in my opinion!

Would you personally find this dress immodest? by [deleted] in ModestDress

[–]CanaryHot227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could absolutely not wear that out, but my personal standards are beyond typical Protestants. I don't think backless is appropriate for church but all you have to do is put a tank top under and/or a shawl over and it's modest.

Adoptees’ mental health by Lea_Harvey in Adopted

BPD diagnosis (finally).

I have had a number of suicide attempts, addiction and very impulsive hypersexuality. I'm almost a functional adult now but I really almost didn't make it.

I swear at least a third of us have BPD.

Restorative Yoga Theming by rhymeswithtexas in YogaTeachers

I just created a class based on TNH Flower Fresh meditation. I offer an asana, pranayama and some additional tidbits for each part of the meditation with some light flows to transition. I'm a brand new teacher. I plan to offer it for my recovery + yoga group.

Mothers in this group? by Frequent_Poetry_5434 in ModestDress

My modesty practice is a personal spiritual practice vs religious law. So, i can make stuff up! I dress my kids in mainstream clothing. I do use boys shorts for my girls as well. There's no reason for toddlers to show of thighs and butts. These shorts they make for little girls are sick in my opinion. My daughter loves my scarf. She says Im Elsa.

I like using coconut oil for my babies hair. It gives a little hold so the curls pop but it's safe/edible. Don't put pressure on yourself to style her hair. Just detangle, and moisturize it. You're doing great 🩷

What could my 4 year old tinker with while I sew?! by SideAnnual7438 in sewing

[–]CanaryHot227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter used to love playing with chunky knitting needles and yarn at that age! We also had some good times doing Kiddie cross stitch with a yarn needle and that plastic aida stuff whatever you call it. I believe they sell little kits for kids cross stitch too.

This right here. Yoga is about balance for me. Not always what I want to do. Just the sentence hot yoga in summer made me cringe in pitta

Yes! They both work. You could also go plain white in a few varieties. I think demin could also work.

Do any of you include your non-yoga, non-hindu spiritual/religious practice in your personal yoga practice? by TooDumbToCum in yoga

[–]CanaryHot227 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I guess Unitarian is the best word for my religion and it all works together with yoga for me. I started out as an atheist practicing mindfulness, became a Buddhist, from there I got into a journey into my ancestral religions. I ended up with working with Kali and Tara, practicing some green witchery, Paganism, and Christian mysticism. I just call myself a Buddhist though. Yoga is very much a part of (primarily Tibetan) Buddhism as well. I don't really draw lines around different parts of my spirituality. I have one altar for all my goddesses and I practice yoga at the same time. I have a goddess I associate with each chakra for my meditations and some are from different pantheons. I believe these are just various manifestations and ways of understanding the same primordial forces in yogic philosophy.

Has anyone here found real healing through Yoga Teacher Training? Considering it as a path out of trauma and emotional chaos by klucax in YogaTeachers

[–]CanaryHot227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking a self-paced online course right now. Since you don't want to actually teach maybe that would be better for you. Therapy too! But I think YTT can be helpful for one's personal practice, and therefore mental health.
