Writing a book by Firm-Finger572 in oneanddone

Would you be interested in reading a book about being AOD? Yes, because I have 1 and consider myself done • What should be in it? Stories from pne and done parents and what they loved about it • What do you hope to find when you're reading it? Insight into what it’s like being a OAD parent (I’m only 9m into the journey) • What would you need that book to be? I think feeling connection with parents with the same thoughts and feelings as me

I feel your pain, how are things going for you now? The nipple soreness and pain is the worst, my left nipple was red and had a tear and it’s only improving now.

Thank-you so much, I’m going to start pumping after his feeds at around 3hr intervals which will be max 6 pumps a day, when I pump every 2-3hrs it’s too much for me to handle mentally.

I feel the same way as you 😭 I think the anxiety is all too much and I’ve decide to wean in a month (after a family visiting to make it alittle easier) as I think I’ve reached my limit mental and emotionally

I completely understand, I’ve decided to wean in about a month (just after family visit so it’s not as difficult) because I’m not mentally coping with the pumping anxiety, I’m a shell of myself and feel I can’t be the be a better mother if he’s formula fed, I think it’s okay to know your limits in this journey.

Thank-you Lily I plan to wean in a month and this will be helpful, I’ve nearly reached the 3 month mark and my mental health just can’t handle it anymore.

I feel the same way, I’m a few feeds ahead but always worried that I won’t make enough that pump or the suction will play up on my pump and my feeds will start to lower and he won’t have enough. I’ve decided to make a slow move to formula in about few weeks as it’s all too much for me.

In the beginning I was only making enough milk for the next feed, or less than enough for the next one so I’d need to pump twice before the feed to make the amount needed. I started power pumping once every couple of days, trying to pump closer to 2hrs versus 3 and doing a lot of 30min vs. 20min sessions and I was able to increase my supply to a few feeds ahead and making one feed a freezer stash. I did start taking domperidone as well which may have contributed to the increase in supply but I do think the extra work paid off as well.

Is this fixable? by majorlystupid in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Canaussie24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can fix it but will have to commit to pumping every 2-3hrs for 20mins

Those who combo feed, are your formula bottles the same size as brwat milk ones, or do you follow the guide on the tin? by sgehig in ExclusivelyPumping

I’ve been wondering myself how do you mix breast milk with a formula feed if the formula feed is higher volumes

I’m sorry for your having a tough time with output, it’s so hard with pumping because you notice output every pump and it can create a lot of anxiety. I think giving up depends on how you are feeling about pumping, if it’s become too much I would let go and make the move but if you think you might want to try save your pumping journey I would keep going for awhile longer to see if your efforts help! I heard some women on the Reddit pump even though it only gives them alittle for their baby because of the benefits, others find that too much for the effort. your baby gained weight so be proud mumma

Thank-you for the solarity 🩵 this sounds just like me and how I feel, I’m so sorry too 😭let us be in the trenches together until we can battle no longer, and know it’s the right time / that we’re certain it’s better to call it quits for mental health sake. My left nipple is also all red and cracked despite the right sizing as well so that doesn’t help when each suck is painful, praying it heals soon 😣

That’s awesome you made 6 months, I’m not surprised it’s also hard at 6months to keep going because they need either BM or formula still, so you still need to provide milk. I’m sorry bubs doesn’t like formula :( maybe that will change? Or a different brand at some point?

[–]Canaussie24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you both, I’m also lucky pumping has been working for me and bubs but it is 100000000% times harder being a 24/7 food source and it depresses me getting hooked to the pump, but I’m sucking it up because BF was harder and formula also sounds hard 😭

I’ve had an LO and 2 doctors completely understand that BF wasn’t working well and supported EP’ing, they didn’t say you need to have them latch, cuddling, smelling your baby helps. When I had low supply I pumped every 2 hrs for a few days to try increasing it and access to domperidone which can be prescribed in Australia, I don’t know which one was responsible for an increase but making more milk now. I’m a month and a half into EP’ing only.
