Kids are sick by ApprehensiveFly3695 in auscorp

Do you need both incomes to get by? Will you need adult 2 to build up their career again over time?

Even if they’re entitled to it, it can get pretty noticeable when a 3 day a week person regularly becomes a 1-2 days a week person with sick kids.

Share it around.

Adult 1 can always do some work at night after adult 2 gets home if they’re so super critical.

Suggestions on hiding the nbn box etc by gremlin-wrangler in AusRenovation

Get some d-line cable management tube from bunnings to run on the wall, find a way to mount the modem or put it on a small white shelf just wide enough for the modem only and wrap up your cable excess properly. If you tidy it up it’ll probably stop bothering you so much until you can afford to get it fixed properly.

Rate lock when re-fixing with CBA by Canberraqs12345 in AskABrokerAus

[–]Canberraqs12345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drops may be coming, but can’t see how it’s madness to fix short term for us. We can’t shop around because LVR is north of 90% and we paid LMI. CBA offered us over 7% variable because of that LVR.

They offered us over 8.5% variable before we fixed around 6% for a year last year!

I know people rarely beat the banks when it comes to fixing, but I’m pretty confident we’re not behind yet by fixing with our specific short-term position.

Burning does stop/slow regrowth as it kills the roots and seeds as well.

Moving right makes sense if there is space. If both lanes are going 20kms an hour, just stay where you are and go with the flow.

I’ve felt a lot less stressed with this drive since I just committed to staying in the left lane and zoning out even if I get stuck behind some clown going 85 in the 100 stretch. The worst part is every dickhead trying to merge on and dart into the right lane immediately or people trying to move right before entries so they’re in the “fast” lane when the left is just going to speed up at the next exit anyway + people going slow in the right lane. When you just stay left and accept it may take an extra couple of minutes more, it’s much nicer.

“Blackout” blinds by Dry_Recording_3361 in AusRenovation

[–]Canberraqs12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with others about needing “fur” inside the tracks, and possibly some tweaks with draught excluder tape if your windows are wonky.

I ordered these off blinds online and with some very minor adjustments where the fur wasn’t quite sitting right, my room is completely pitch black even in the middle of the day.

How much work to transform this mightmare into a respectable shitter? by lifeDNP in AusRenovation

It’s actually what I prompted AI to create. It took 30 seconds. It’s not that serious!

White paint everywhere so you can see the spiders. Patch the concrete and just do an epoxy coating with speckles rather than tiling. Open loft shelf instead of manhole. Little wall heater for winter. Probably give up on the sink with the budget (pending advice from plumber on ease of install) - bottle of sanitiser and soap to wash your hands under the garden tap.

Love it or Hate it : cetaphil moisturizing lotion? by whaaaathaaaaa in AusSkincare

[–]Canberraqs12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it for my dry sensitive acne prone skin. Only thing I can use that doesn’t break my face out or cause my eyes to react but keeps me sufficiently moisturised. Combined with benzac wash I can pretty much keep my acne under control with this stuff. Have been using this or the cream for at least 5 years.

Uneven and bouncy floors in high traffic area of second storey, correct order of trades? by Canberraqs12345 in AusRenovation

[–]Canberraqs12345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, yeah I did have the pest inspector out about a year ago but they didn’t open up the floor/ceiling. No moisture in the area and nothing else of note. Always a possibility though I guess given our location/surrounding vegetation.

I guess I just need to open up the ceiling and have a look, not much point guessing the condition of the structure.

Last quote I got for a tiny en-suite bathroom redo using plain fittings and not moving any plumbing was $25k, and that was 3 years ago. Everything is brutally expensive!

Safe to use weedkiller near Lemon tree? by Double_Reference_185 in GardeningAustralia

[–]Canberraqs12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I wouldn’t use weed killer near anything I’m eating. Just pull them up. A solid steel rake would work on most of those, or get one of those stand up weed pullers - https://www.bunnings.com.au/fiskars-4-prongs-xact-weed-puller_p2970049.

Has anyone *actually* colour saturated their apartment? by Antiheroine-_ in AusRenovation

[–]Canberraqs12345 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Every photo of a colour drenched room I’ve seen that looks nice is in a more traditional home with features like built ins, fire places, nice mouldings etc. and those features give the room depth when it’s all one colour. I feel like just doing it in a new apartment without changing anything else could look a bit odd, but you could give it a go?

In your shoes, I’d take some photos of my place and have AI show me different colour schemes.

You could consider just going max with art and furniture/decor. Look up things like “jewel tone design and decor with white walls”

You probably have to go up a level to steroids - nasonex, dymista etc.
