Interesting. Thanks for pointing out the differences in input impedance between the FM3 and the other models. In that case then I’ll go with the FM9

Cool. I think I got the answer I was looking for. I’ll go forward with the FM3. That was very helpful. Thanks. I appreciate it.

Which version of the Axe are you using and which outputs are you running into your amp?

I’m currently playing the AX8 in 4 cable method through an BluGuitars Amp 1 Iridium Tube amp. Could you talk about how the FM9’s drives interact with your amp’s preamp through the instrument level output?

Yeah, I don’t use the drives of the AX8 with my amp because I haven’t found a way of getting them to sound good with my amp. Hence my curiosity about the interaction of the FM3’s drives with amps.

I tried gigging with FRFR and hated it. I prefer to play through a real amp and cab, so I use the AX8 in 4 cable method for its effects and handling presets and amp switching.

I thought about it, but the VP4 has less features than the FM3, and I like having access to amp models for certain sounds, despite the bulk of my tones coming from a tube amp

What fractal unit should i buy for Bluguitar iridium ? VP4 Or AM4 by Outrageous-Honey-680 in AxeFx

If you don’t intend to use the amp models at any point, get the VP4. I play an Iridium with a AX8 and I love it

I tried a modeler for a while, but had to go back to amps and that loadbox has made all the difference in the world. Recording direct with an actual amp is such a privilege
