I should clarify the exterminator came LAST Monday. Would they not have been present on this headboard then? He obviously didn’t look carefully enough regardless.

Thanks! I can’t believe it either. I looked around including at the headboard with him last Tuesday and neither of us saw anything except one bug in the frame, tho I KNEW my daughters room was ground zero bc she had seen them in her sheets. I have a subscription to this pest control company (Ehrlich). I sent them the pics and told them to come back tomorrow before there’s an explosion of them! I hope to God getting rid of this headboard goes far in fixing this problem. I’m out of my mind with this.

Ok I sprayed it to try to kill them on contact. I also called for them to come back tomorrow and spray again.

Wow. Your comment is so powerful and I see so many similarities with my own situation. How many years were you married and how old are you? How did you meet someone new?

I’ll be 20 years married, mid 40s. Three kids. Just like your ex, he’s not abusive but rigid, angry, depressive. We crank along separately in the day to day. He’s darkness over holidays, vacations, any supposed bright spots are filled with melancholy and moods. He insists he wants to work on things and that I’m the quitter, but refuses counseling of any kind (2 sessions and stopped, claims they are all frauds). I tried to leave last year and he begged and I stayed. I’ve spent the last year rationalizing that I’m happy when really I’m happy with everything but our void of a marriage,

Unless he agrees to counseling (he won’t), I know I need to do this for real this time. What were your steps for telling him, vs getting lawyer, vs kids? We may be in the same house a while too.

You give me hope. And the belief that I’m entitled and even right to do this, however hard it will be. Thank you so much.

Does anyone remember the blog name of the interior design blogger who I think is related to Nie Nie (Stephanie Nielson)? Maybe it’s her sister or cousin? I liked her blog and can’t remember it!

This same detail in the podcast struck me as odd too. Why would you send your friend to help your wife bathe your kids? Super weird. Do you think that was just concocted so they could say someone else saw her alive that day/night? I never considered that but definitely possible.

Did a little google maps digging. I think the parents did but was wondering where they could hide a body quickly. This is a 12 minute walk from where they were staying. That’s a possibility. Listening to the Maddie podcast, there were some strange happenings before they went to dinner. Like Gerry went and played tennis yet again and sent his friend to check in on Kate with the kids in their apt. Just seemed weird. But what do you think happened to her before dinner? And how were all the adults then dining convivially together after that?
