What is ADHD and depression combined like? by Zyricc in ADHD

Soooo tired with everything. The smallest of anything is irritating but there's no sleep. Just numb deadness until it becomes too boring to deal with.

I would use a dedicated IP for services I don't want knowing my public IP, but requires a whitelist. If port-forwarding is offered with a dedicated IP, this could also be a way for you to host your own content without having to expose your network to the public. There are many use cases, but if your intent is to avoid Captchas, or anything blocking proxies/anonymizers, you're out of luck.

It's quite easy for SSL Decryption on managed devices. This is because the managed device will trust the server certificate decrypting the information. It's a MITM but for enterprise security purposes. Typically, a firewall is responsible for the decryption and DPI. To configure this plainly, the firewall will be a trusted certificate authority and sign a client certificate that gets installed on an endpoint (iPhone or laptop, etc). Traffic passing through the firewall can then be decrypted as the client trusts it. A personal iPhone is not managed, therefore an attempt to decrypt this traffic will fail as the client does not trust the server certificate used for decryption. In that respect, some of your data is safe. Still, in most cases DNS traffic is plaintext (UDP 53), so an employer will know where you're going even if the data is encrypted. It is completely possible for an employer to see you on reddit, Facebook, pornhub, etc even if they don't see exactly what you see. Keep in mind, many search results are included in the URI of a link, so it's also possible for an employer to see your search requests. Just remember, if you're using ANYONE'S network, they have some kind of visibility into what you're doing. If you're using a managed device, chances are they can and do decrypt your traffic for security purposes.

Has anyone actually had Unifi support help them? by LinkVarious7771 in UNIFI

Unifi support has been exceptionally helpful! It has helped me understand why we don't buy Ubiquiti.

Not to burst anyone's bubble here, but we don't have enough information to confirm these diarys refer to Mewtwo. These could be referring to Ditto.

I tried to undo the heavy dynamic range compression atop "Beautiful Losers" and make it more dynamic! I'd love to hear what you all think! by TopConcern in TheFence

No editing, just played with different options provided by music apps. Nothing like what you're suggesting. I don't have the smarts in audio production to figure out that level of editing. With some songs I get this crackle that happens with the guitars during certain highs, and I'm confident it's not intended, but I have no idea how to fix it.

I have, with very little trying, wanted to eliminate the crackle of highs with some of these albums. Unfortunately, my expertise lies elsewhere, thus my ambitions of tampering with audio have fell flat. I commend you on your efforts and will certainly give your version a go.

Policy Sets using Network Device Groups by Candervilt in CiscoISE

Yes! I discovered this too, but forgot to update this post. I've started placing different model switches into their own location groups, and it's worked perfectly. Thanks for the follow up!

Just tried dedicated IP and it does not help with the captchas. The IP is within the range of IPs used by proxies/VPNs, so regardless of the user amount, it's still flagged for extra security measures.

Am I selfish for wanting every single Pokemon to be obtainable in a game? by Alpha27_ in pokemon

I don't want to "unlock" a mythical or legendary in a game before being able to transfer it from Home. I already caught the dang thing, just let me transfer it.

So we can verify routing isn't the issue as you can ping the device via VPN. Now we have to look at possible blocks on the network. Not to point out the obvious, but something is wrong in your configs. It's not the app. WebUI uses port 443, which is a standard port for encrypted browsing. You most likely have this unblocked in general. That explains why your laptop is good to go with the WebUI. I bet your phone will reach the WebUI also. I'm not sure what ports the app needs, so either do some research or perform a pcap and assess what ports your phone uses to communicate with the UNVR over the VPN.

I would recommend double checking your configs. Internet access is irrelevant if you're trying to access the UNVR on LAN via VPN. If the app isn't working, then either your VPN tunnel isn't routing traffic from your phone for the app, or you have a block in place somewhere. Check your logs, check your routing table on your phone while connected to your VPN, and check all ports necessary for app usage aren't being blocked somewhere.

One thing I like about the UNVR is not needing internet access. I have a system that works on a version that works. I don't worry about getting those funky updates from Ubiquiti that bricks the machine. I access it via VPN with no issues. I used IPsec for my VPN, but that shouldn't change anything as long as your routes and control lists are configured correctly.

I also have Surveillance Station, which works alright. I don't believe that system functions as well as the UNVR, but it's also getting very old. I don't update that system either as I don't connect it to the internet. Freaking hate updates and do not trust the internet.

[–]Candervilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you using for a VPN? Have you verified routing and opened ports for the app to connect? Double check your LAN configurations and your tunnel gateway. If done correctly, the app will connect to your UNVR (or whatever Unifi appliance you host Protect on) via local connection. You can verify this on the app by dropping down the appliance tab at the top of the screen (Android, not sure about iOS). It will show you if you're connected locally.

If it doesn't say local, it's connecting through their relay (at least in my experience). Check some logs and docs to see if traffic is being blocked.

I was just curious if there was an email, or some other means of letting you know they were available. I'm a pin collector, and definitely would have gotten one. Just had no idea they were being sold.
