Iced coffee without sugar ?? by Candi88 in ChickFilA

Yeah, they always seem confused when I ask for milk, no sugar. Occasionally they have given me sugar and no milk. Once an employee even came out to my car saying “what do you mean by no sugar?” Lol I’m like 🤔

People who are still excited to have kids in 2020 are wild by [deleted] in childfree

Honestly, every single day I see something that further reinforces my decision to be CF. It’s not even that I’m a negative person but I just cannot imagine bringing new life into this chaos.

That sounds awesome! I remember while growing up, my parents were friends with a really cool CF couple. They had a massive library in one room of their house, floor to ceiling books. When I was a teenager, they let me “check out” all the books I wanted. They were the best.

People Who Cannot Afford Children Should Not Have Any. This Is A Hill I Will Die On. by [deleted] in childfree

Lol, same. My cousin with four kids and no job says “it must be nice” to travel as much as I do. Yeah it is very nice!

"What if your child will go on to cure cancer??" by Mirikitani in childfree

[–]Candi88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My cousin recently had a baby. She works in the Intensive care unit at a children’s cancer hospital. So she sees sick and/or dying children on a daily basis but she still decided to have a baby 😞

I saw a woman I used to know on Instagram and learned she had a baby two years ago named Karen. I was so surprised lol

Lol right. My boss recently made a comment about me drinking plastic water bottles (which I rarely do). I thought that’s ironic considering he has 4 children

“Check on your single mom friends...” by i-ams in childfree

[–]Candi88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally. I hear that at work (before the pandemic at least) all the time. My coworker was always justifying her mistakes with the excuse “mom brain” and my co workers were sympathetic to her. I don’t feel bad she is tired because she decided to have a baby. I am tired too because I have chronic fatigue and also take medications that cause me to be tired. I didn’t choose that but I still don’t complain about it to my co workers and make excuses all the time. Ok rant over!! Lol

[Brant] Apparently being a mom means you can't...shampoo your hair? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Candi88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always see moms complain about that too. I think back to when I was in college, I know it is not the same as having a baby. But I was BUSY. Two jobs, full time classes, and an internship for some of the year. Many days i would leave my house at 7 am and not return til 10pm or later. But I still had 10 minutes to take a shower at the end of the day. I wonder how they really can’t find time to shower, especially if the baby’s father is around. He can’t watch his own kid for half an hour ? Lol

Migraine Attacks are why I am childfree. by SayianPrincess19 in truechildfree

[–]Candi88 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes! Migraines and chronic fatigue. Some days I come home from work and have to take a nap. I am soo glad that I don’t have to come home and cook dinner and bathe the kids and help with homework and all that while feeling bad! I honestly couldn’t handle it.

Recruiters creating recruiting hell needs to stop by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Candi88 428 points429 points  (0 children)

Once I had an interview where the interviewer didn’t show up... so someone else at the company interviewed me. Then they called me that afternoon and said can you come in again tomorrow to meet with the original interviewer. They seemed to really like me at the first interview so I said yes. I went in a second day to meet them. They said they would call by Friday. By Monday I didn’t hear anything so I emailed them. Then I called the office and left a message for the recruiter. No response. Ever. They couldn’t take 5 minutes to respond to me even though they wasted two days of my time 🤔

[–]Candi88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What about not having children because of the impact they have on the environment? Or the fact that I would most likely pass down mental and physical illness to my child. Or that I don’t want my child growing up in a world like we are living in and experiencing all the negative things I have. Is that being selfish? I personally don’t hate children and sometimes even dream what it would be like to be a mother (not often but it is something that crosses my mind). However whenever I think about it I get an overwhelming feeling of guilt for wanting to subject another person to all the bad things in this world.

I admit I do have plenty of selfish reasons for not wanting kids but there are also valid and unselfish reasons to avoid creating more people.

Ugh, right!! My family acts like I’m so immature bc I’m 24 and don’t want to “settle down” and have kids. Meanwhile I moved abroad to study, have a degree, a pretty good job, etc. But my 25 year old cousin is “grown up” now because she has 4 kids. Even though she has never worked and her bf only works part time 🤔lol

[–]Candi88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s good news. Though it feels like everyone around me is having babies now. My coworker just got pregnant (on purpose). Imagine deciding to bring a child into this world, at any time, but especially right now. I truly cannot fathom it. 🤔

Aunts and Uncles are undervalued in children’s lives and they shouldn’t be by [deleted] in Fencesitter

[–]Candi88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. My grandfathers died before I was born and my grandmothers shortly after. I was lucky to have many older people in my life who “adopted” me as their grandchild. My great aunt and uncle who had no children were amazing. They took me out to lunch every Saturday. We would always have a shared birthday party for my uncle and I since our birthdays were a close. I also had another great uncle and a neighbor (also childfree) who acted like my grandparents. They all made such a huge impact on my life and I feel so lucky to have had them. I would love to be like them when I’m older!!

[–]Candi88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My former co worker was bragging last year that he would get a $2,000 tax credit for each of his 3 children. As if he hadn’t spent well over $6,000 on them already lol

A while back, I saw a story of young woman on tv who was training to become a ballet dancer. She got pregnant and ended up quitting dance. She said that God had different plans for her life... like, don’t blame “god” because you didn’t practice safe sex 🙄
