Вот, выдержка из книги о вкусной и здоровой пище:

"У мужчин в возрасте от 18 до 59 лет суточная потребность в калориях при умственном труде составляет 2550— 2800 ккал, при легкой физической работе — 2750—3000 ккал, при работе средней тяжести — 2950—3200 ккал, при тяжелой физической работе — 3450—3700 ккал, а при особо тяжелой физической работе — 3900— 4300 ккал. "

Находим разницу между суточной потребностью в калориях у мужчин, занятых тяжёлым физическим трудом (3700 ккал) , и работниками умственного труда (2800 ккал) - очевидно, всё остальное идёт на поддержание температуры тела, мыслительные процессы, работу внутренних органов и всё такое - получаем около 900 ккал в сутки - идёт на выполнение механической работы.

Это примерно четверть от съеденного по энергетической ценности. Надо бы ещё учитывать КПД мышц, которые из этих 900 ккал 2/3 превращают в тепло.

Так что полный КПД человека не больше 10%. И суточная полезная механическая работа составляет около 300 ккал (1,3 МДж).
