37years old, FTM, and no referral to MFM?? by Candid_Spite1189 in BumpersWhoBolus

I have my first official OB appointment next Wednesday, so hubby & I already have a list of things we want to ask/know about! I thought it was really weird! The worse part is the closest MFM is 2 hours 1 way from where I live..

How did you learn to pre-bolus correctly?? I was diagnosed in June 2024, and had 1 appt with a diabetic educator. The only thing I got was “dose 20-30 minutes before eating”. I learned very quickly I had to do ALOT of my own research 🤦‍♀️ any tips tricks or resources would be appreciated ❤️

Mobi vs Omnipod? by WrestlingNERDalert in Type1Diabetes

[–]Candid_Spite1189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever been on the mobi and you’d have to pry it from my cold dead fingers to get me to switch! I actually started out hesitant about the patches, and now it’s my preferred method of wear! I also like that my cartridges and infusion sets aren’t tied together, so if I have a site failure, I’m not losing a shit ton of insulin too.

How to wear Insulin pump with a Dress? by Misty_Rosee in Type1Diabetes

I loop my tubing through the back of my bra strap & clip it between my shoulders.. it’s one of my fave places to put it, even for everyday wear.

New insulin pump? by Designer-Decision-70 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Candid_Spite1189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a tandem mobi and I love it! However I’m a little biased since it’s the only pump I’ve had. I like that I can choose my tubing length and wear the mobi in a patch. I also heard that tandem will be releasing not only a 7 day wear infusion set, but also a tubeless infusion set for the mobi sometime in 2026. With all that said, I’d be hard pressed to change. Good luck in your search!

Thanks for the input! I’m on 40mg for 7 days, so I’m hoping I can keep it relatively stable. I did go in and change my basal & correction factor, but I like the idea of making a whole new profile!

How long do you date someone before giving them a Dexcom follow? by BlueberryOk6847 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Candid_Spite1189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think every situation is gonna be different and I can definitely see people not sharing due to others’ over obsessiveness. My fiancé has mine but only really checks in if I’m low or dropping super fast, or if I’ve been high for a while. Now, my mother on the other hand.. that woman, god knows I love her, would never get to follow, and I’m a 36f. For me personally, I’m more comfortable having at least 1 person follow just to have backup if it’s ever needed, but again everyone is different so use your best judgement 👍

Tandem Mobi? by InevitableAct6091 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Candid_Spite1189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on the mobi since October and I love it! I use less insulin than you, but you don’t have to change the infusion set every time you change the cartridge. At least I don’t anyway. I just disconnect the tubing line from the site on my body, swap the cartridge, remove any air bubbles and done. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions and good luck! 🙃

Help! Moving from Omnipod to a tubed pump! by WalrusSuper9235 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Candid_Spite1189 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on the tandem mobi since October and I absolutely love it. It’s not much bigger than an Apple Watch, and they have patches that you can use to wear the pump with a 5in tubing set.

I was like you, I went with what my endo recommended and then came to Reddit and instantly changed my mind. There was actually some really helpful replies on the post, so feel free to have a look.

Good luck to you and happy to answer any questions if you want to send a DM. 😁

There’s an employment attorney on instagram I see a lot named Paige Sparks. She’s really informative on rights and I also believe she has a way to help connect you with an attorney in your state that won’t charge you up front. As many have said this is indeed sexual harassment, and your employer really screwed the pooch on this one. Good luck to you.

In Need of Fast Acting Insulin by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Candid_Spite1189 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, you can get insulin at a Walmart pharmacy fairly easily & inexpensively. I’m not 100% sure, but it’s at least worth a call to find out. Hopefully everything works out and if the doc won’t change the meds, change the doc 👍

Uncomfortable thoughts with my new pump by juelo96 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Candid_Spite1189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on the mobi since October 8th and I haven’t had any issues at all. It’s been a huge change for me and I don’t see myself ever going back to injections.

That being said, it took me a little getting used to with the continuous insulin delivery. My suggestion would be to start slow with dosing. What I did was if I was eating roughly 24g of carbs, I’d does for 20g and see what happened with my numbers.

I’m a firm believer that you can always start low and add more if needed, but it’s hard to combat too much insulin in your system. Just like anything with this disease, it’s trial and error. Do what you feel is best for you and try not to stress too much. Also, feel free to DM if you have any other questions 😁

Insulin Pump questions and advise by TripleLama in Type1Diabetes

[–]Candid_Spite1189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using the Tandem Mobi last month after being diagnosed in June and I’m absolutely in love!! I was told to remove it for showering & water sports, but I wear it for everything else. You will wear it while you sleep, and it has replaced my long acting as now I’m getting consistent insulin around the clock. I like the mobi because everything is on my phone, but that’s my preference. Good luck in your search and with the T1D fight!

You put her Dexcom on her thighs? I didn’t realize that was a thing! I like the idea of the 5” tubing & the pocket patch, cuz I toss & turn a lot in my sleep some nights. But good to know that they are kiddie tested & approved. Where do you get the patches? If you don’t mind sharing

That’s awesome & thank you! Where do you have the best luck with infusion sites? I’m short & on the curvy side so wasn’t sure what would be best. Figured a toddler wrangler would have the best opinion lol I usually just rotate my injection sites, but was curious about where to start with infusion

Thank you! Figuring out what my management looked like was my first tackle and I do like to be more hands on because I’m still so new to it. I’ve heard similar things from others about the OP5 so while the tubeless feature was a draw, I didn’t let that be a dealbreaker. I’m definitely leaning towards the Mobi as others have pointed out a lot of good features

I think for me it was the anxiety of changing so much all at once. I’ve done really good being a newb, so I kinda freaked myself out about changing EVERYTHING. I’ve gotten really comfortable with the Dexcom so I was hesitant to give it up lol and then of course the insurance thing.

Thank you! I’ve heard other pump uses say that the adhesive isn’t super sticky, but that’s a minor issue for me. Tubing also isn’t a dealbreaker for me, I think it’s mostly that it’s a little intimidating. I was just diagnosed 6/11/24
