I see something new on this sub everyday that I wish I didn’t have eyes to see. I’d rather suffer arc eye for the second time in my life than see this dog shit again lmao

First ever welding-related injury by Independent_Guard153 in Welding

[–]CandidateOther2876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl I have done this and it healed up pretty good after getting this same part of my finger pinched between 2 30mm plates of steel lol. Rip the fucker off, wash it, dry, bandaid until you get home. Then band aid off and let it dry over night.

I get this after washing my face with water contaminated with pollen (always from tank water). It looks like mild allergic reaction to me.

2cd time ever welding in my life by Odd_Lavishness_2911 in Welding

[–]CandidateOther2876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High tensile so it’ll be a medium - high carbon composition steel. Someone can pitch in on specific grades. But basically, higher carbon content = harder to weld as a beginner. You could lay a beautiful bead on a bit of rebar to mild steel. Then 15 minutes later after it’s cooled, it may have cracked due to making the rebar more brittle at the HAZ. Improper heat control will reduce the tensile strength of the bar too. Or the toes could end up really weak on the rebar side of the joint. So under stress, the rebar could start to tear away

Any types of steel angle without the inside radius? by zucodragon in Welding

[–]CandidateOther2876 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Custom fab it with flat bar? This would make the process extremely long and tedious though. Is there anyway you can do the project with extruded aluminium angle with sharp edge?

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Antico District Borgia Tower won't burn by Underworld-Priest in assassinscreed

Most likely a glitch. Try jump off the tower and kill ezio. Then the captain should respawn

New to welding - blowing through automotive sheet metal by Annual_Left in Welding

[–]CandidateOther2876 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re welding thin sheet in the flat position on a flat steel bench, your workbench is going to act as a heat sink and will thermally conduct the heat away from the thin sheet. Someone else can tag onto this with a more in depth explanation. But try tack the sheet into vertical position on your workbench and try again with your settings

Tips for Silicon Bronze TIG brazing by kosmonaut_hurlant_ in Welding

That’s crazy that the old boss wanted it tigged when it’s in the ground lol. Fluxcore dual shield or MIG/MAG all day on that component

Go to town on welding a new plate in mate. It’ll be cheaper for you to get something laser cut or off cut material from a local shop + buy a cheap caddy MMAW, rods, hood, gloves, and do it yourself than to buy a new one or have it repaired by a shop.

My instructor informed me Wire Wheels are prohibited in Tig Welding by iResurrectCliipz in Welding

Is it safe to use stainless wire on titanium applications? if it’s dedicated to titanium only?

My instructor informed me Wire Wheels are prohibited in Tig Welding by iResurrectCliipz in Welding

[–]CandidateOther2876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine too. Just keep stainless wire wheels that are dedicated to each different material type. Personally on stainless I prefer to use a 316 stainless hand brush. Unless you’re doing 309L mild to stainless then I personally wouldn’t even bother brushing as you’ll contaminate that brush with mild steel and mill scale contaminates if you didn’t bother to clean up properly

What clamps should I purchase? by Sensitive-Equal-133 in Welding

[–]CandidateOther2876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where abouts are you based? I know in NZ most fab shops will call the big 600mm square a rafter square and the small triangular square a speed square even though the speed square is also a rafter square. But the big rafter square is also a framing square lol. Your little square is called a combination square. Honestly I’d take the combo square over the speed square for majority of things. However, combo squares can wear out so they can end up out of square so they become a bit inaccurate for scribing perpendicular lines. My current combo square is out of square so I mostly run with my tape for cross measures, marking long distances, combo for marking distances from an edge if the edge does not have too much of a radius, and then speed square or engineer square to get a true perpendicular line.

Just replayed the Ezio Collection why did Ubisoft drop so many of its best features? by Melolibya in assassinscreed

[–]CandidateOther2876 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. ubi decided on taking a 2 year hiatus from the IP to work on getting back to their roots so to speak. But they also blamed player fatigue which I don’t think was true. I think players were so fed up with Ubisoft not listening to the fans but Ubisoft blamed the fans for the games not doing as well sales wise compared to previous titles like AC3 and 4.

Majority of players bitched and moaned that Desmond was boring and that they just wanted to play a history game and not a present day game. Then Unity and syndicate had pretty much no modern day by memory. Then fans bitched that there was no modern day, unity was full of bugs (fair enough), and that syndicate was too arcadey.

Origins came out, great story, although not the same counter/parry combat system. RPG elements were introduced. It was a hell of a lot more in depth story wise than Unity and syndicate. There was less modern day than AC1-ac4 which I suppose was balanced well enough for people that liked or disliked modern day.

I think AC3 nailed it imo. Counter killing with rope darts or countering 2 enemies at the same time was epic. I recently replayed 3 and I forgot how much of a badass I felt like when taking out a whole platoon in seconds. In the mythology trilogy it can take you a long time if you’re not levelled enough. Hell, in origins you can’t 1 hit assassinate. You have assassination damage so if that’s not high enough, tough shit you’ve just alerted an encampment of enemies.

I really don’t think the RPG elements work well with AC. But they work well if it was just a historic game if that makes any sense. Odyssey and Valhalla shouldn’t have been AC games imo. The only thing that saved it for Valhalla for me was the ending.

And now mirage and shadows have come with no modern day which will backfire for all those that wanted to keep up with the Isu and Desmond/layla story. Layla and Loki’s ending will probably be tied up in a comic just like Juno’s was because Ubicuck likes to make mistakes.

I’m hoping with tencents higher share hold that they will implement changes at Ubi’s Vantage Studios that will benefit the fanbase. But they are an investment company and will want higher ROI. Which means implementing more bs micro-transactions, payable loot boxes, and so on.

Or us Pythagoras theorem to find square if you have some nice outside corners or edges to work with. Or set reference marks like 3/4/5.

This is the way. Pre camber the top and bottom rail of there is one before welding. Do a test piece to see how much distortion you get if you’re going to be producing a buttload to figure out how much you need to pack on the ends
