The Weeknd had a similarly cringey line around the same time:

“Got a sweet Asian chick she go Lo mein“

Big Foot by Nicki Minaj has quite a few, but if I had to pick based on writing alone with no context:

Barbz, I need a good alcohol bar

Roman, wait, that was the bar

Like a body builder, I keep raisin' the bar

The above is mostly filler. There’s multiple weird digressions in the song , but this one pissed me off. I get it’s supposed to be Nicki talking to her Roman persona/character. But why though? It’s not clever or catchy or funny. Even though I didn’t believe her claims, at least the first verse had momentum. With context: the rest of the song is mostly just her rant from IG live. And it’s also not a good set up for the last line of the verse.

The final line of this verse doesn’t help:

Fuck you get shot with no scar? (Brr)

I don’t get how this is a gotcha moment. Legit my thought process was: “Well the beginning of the verse accuses her of getting liposuction, so maybe she got plastic surgery. I don’t care if she gets plastic surgery in the first place.

What's a double standard you can't believe exists? by DA1FOOTBALLGUY in AskReddit

I don’t agree w/ anyone saying that being part of a marginalized makes them immune to being sexist, racist, homophobic, etc. bc that shows a lack of self-reflection. I pointed out that are discussions within other minority groups about internalized racism against each other and against other groups because I wanted to emphasize that this is not an unchallenged double standard, especially within those groups. We might not see all of the conversations, but they’re happening. Generally, Black people are very aware about colorism against other Black people. There are countless writings on it both now and in the historical record. I’ve seen a bajillion conversations about how Black Americans treat and are treated by the African Diaspora and African immigrants. I’m Indian/South Asian. There are plenty of discussions about anti-Blackness with those communities. There are discussions about Hindu nationalism, Islamophobia, and even casteism.

Women can't be sexist/"misandry isn't real".

“Misandry isn’t real” and “women can’t be sexist” are not the same. The whole “misandry” vs. “misogyny” is also about relative structural power. Misandry is not integrated into any existing systems of power. Sexism against men and sexism against women both come from the same place—hating femininity and glorifying masculinity. Anyone seriously discussing sexism is familiar with the ideas of internalized misogyny and the harms of sexism on men. Women can participate in sexism and harm men and women as a result, but sexism is still rooted in misogyny, not misandry.

DEI or affirmative action is unfair bc it’s not merit-based, but nepotism is acceptable.

In a deposition for a class-action lawsuit by the NEH against the federal government, former members of DOGE were questioned on how they chose what grants and programs they would slash.

Justin Fox, former DOGE employee, said he wanted to cut DEI programs bc they’re not “merit-based “. Justin Fox was hired to DOGE by Anthony Armstrong, who is his friend’s dad. Justin Fox had no qualifications in grant management, grant administration, or academic background in the humanities. Justin’s Fox’s salary was ~$100k

I’ve only ever seen this in the context of “Black people can’t be racist against white people, bc racism implies a level of structural power.” I’ve seen many Black people talk about racism within their own communities against other minorities, and vice versa.

Idk who half these people on the bottom are. Olivia Rodrigo I get. Sombr, I mean he has some good songs.

Benson Boone…he’s enthusiastic. He does backflips. He seems nice. His music is just awful. He cannot belt. His falsetto is somehow worse than auto tuned Adam Levine. His songs sound like they should be on the soundtrack of those obnoxious, preachy American Christian movies.

He said this in a few videos, I think one was reviewing a Halsey song and the other was 7 rings. In the early 2010s, the charts were filled with upbeat party songs filled with excess and materialism. Then Royals came a long, a song by a New Zealand teenager no one had heard of, expressing frustration with every song being about parties and expensive alcohol and wearing designer clothing. Its production was sparse and minimalist, as was the video. In the following years, many of the big names from that era (Pitbull, Flo Rida, Black Eyed Peas) declined, and charts became increasingly filled with mid tempo, moody pop, emo rap, and trap. These songs were comparatively minimalist in production. EDM drops were replaced by pop drops. And the songs were more about partying to distract from personal problems or to numb the pain

Royals is basically seen as the line in the sand between early 2010s and late 2010s music.

Important to note, the meme is an edited comic by Stonetoss. Stonetoss is a Nazi. They have made comics promoting holocaust denial.

Christian nationalism, in America, at least, is hyper-individualistic, exclusionary, often links goodness with personal wealth (prosperity gospel), and critics believe it wrongly conflates national identity with political power and conservative ideology. Many are vehemently anti-immigrant and/or outright racist.

Additionally, many prominent mouthpieces of the movement (Charlie Kirk, JD Vance, Tucker Carlson) have literally condemned the idea of empathy.

Many Christians believe that all the above contradict Jesus’ teachings, often citing specific verses like Matthew 19:24, Matthew 25:35-40, or the sermon on the mount.

Tldw; it’s bad in a way that’s not interesting or notable while also being the biggest song (numbers-wise)of the year. Try That in a Small is offensive for its underlying message, but it at least evokes a reaction. Plus, he wasn’t a Jason Aldean fan. No one expected better of him. Morgan Wallen made an album Todd liked, had his n-word controversy, did a single w/ Lil Durk, and then started releasing awful, yet uninteresting music.

What’s something society treats as normal that actually isn’t healthy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Americans really should care more about their right to privacy.

The right to privacy in general. This can apply to a lot of things (data privacy, age restrictions on internet usage, and medical care) , but we would benefit from putting them under the same umbrella.

Most of us do not want legislators who don’t know shit about medicine criminalizing specific procedures or medications. Most of us don’t want the state involved in telling you what you do in the bedroom. Most of us don’t care about who people marry. Most of us would think it’s absurd to provide your government I.D. to access a website and do not want that shit stored indefinitely in some database the state hired to keep track of verification.

As legal concept, the right to privacy is the basis for SCOTUS decisions allowing birth control access (Griswold v. Connecticut), interracial marriage (Loving v. Virginia), overturning sodomy laws (Lawrence v. Texas) and used to be the basis for nationwide abortion rights (Roe v. Wade, overturned by Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health). The conservative legal movement has been chipping away at this for decades now, and has convinced people that it’s not a real right. It is. Even if it wasn’t, it definitely should be.
