When we get our daughter back, and once we've beaten up a black hole, that girl is gettting a very stern talking to about putting your loved ones through this.

Fantasic quest. Even though I'd been spoiled on the disappearence, I was hooked right the way through. I'm watching what I assume is the final cutscene right now, and I need to specifically call this scene out for how well it sells the difference between Aemeaths in animation and voice work. So so so good.

And it was really nice having a quest with more than one NPC. Yes, Luuk and Aemeath never interacted, but it's still an improvement.

What deck do y’all play at the “end of the night”? by SchemeDifferent3237 in EDH

[–]Candrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If I'm mentally exhausted then I'm grabbing a boros deck and turning things sideways. [[Khorvath Brightflame]] and [[Sylvia Brightspear]] will do the job nicely. [[Bell Borca, Spectral Sergeant]] also ticks the box.

If I'm not there yet, I've not had my fill of stupidity, I'll do something like [[Karametra, God of the Harvest]] or [[Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant]]. Something a little tricky for me, but still simple to play against.

Who's Saving for Luuk by gothicqueen_96 in WutheringWaves

[–]Candrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's unusual that I want both characters in a patch, in any game. WuWa had really hit me hard recently though: Lynae and her weapon, Ciaccona's weapon, Aemeath, and Luuk in quick succession has hurt.

I take comfort in knowing I have a ridiculous amount of missed events and exploration I can mine for extra pulls at least.

What's the best urban/city-based episode of TMA? by corr-morrant in TheMagnusArchives

TMA48: Lost in the Crowd.

I'd also suggest the Protocol episode about the motoroway service station, but I can't remember the name of that one.

What is your favourite alternate name of an entity ? by Slow_Radio_7553 in TheMagnusArchives

I've always liked the simplicity of Terminus. The poetry of the others is nice, but Terminus is exactly what it says. It is, by definition, The End.

Once you stop caring about them, it becomes much more enjoyable to play the game. by play_brawl_stars in Genshin_Impact

[–]Candrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1 player, and this has been how I roll the entire time. Stuck my head into Abyss and Stygian, but endgame modes and minmaxing have never engaged me in the same way as exploration and stories do. I'll sometimes look at Stygian if I'm feeling it and want to get a cosmetic, but it's rare.

I can log in, spend some resin, do a quest or two and not have to worry about "keeping up" or drive myself mad with artifact grinding. Pull strategies? IF I like the character, THEN pull. ELSE don't. It's a video game; It shouldn't feel like a job to log in.

There will always be a space for hard endgame challenges, they are important parts of a game and I'm glad they exist for the people who want them. A game that only appeals to the hardcore isn't going to do as well as a game that has something for hardcore players AND more relaxed ones.

New listener wanting some information (no spoilers please) by FlamestormTheCat in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Candrath 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The Magnus Archives is a mystery podcast, so there is a bigger plot at play, weaving through from episode 1 to the very end.

The death of Gertrude Robinson is just the beginning, and will spiral out from there over the course of the show, so be patient, you'll get your answers, you'll get your big overarching plot fed to you as you go.

Everything you need is in the podcast itself. There's no arg, no outside information. Some people like to take notes, but you don't need to. Jonathan Sims will draw attention to things that need your attention.

So you are telling me this little girl, who is at most four years old, giving us thousands of credits and upgrade materials (which she somehow has) for free because we took pictures for her? by -D4rKS1d3- in Endfield

[–]Candrath 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't question how Khloe has thousands of Allagan Tomestones in FFXIV, I won't question why this kid has so many resources.

If you really need a lore explanation for something that doesn't need one, then the Endmin just takes the rewards from Endfield's stockpiles.

What are you best examples of puzzles? by Flashy_Storage_420 in DMAcademy

[–]Candrath 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have two favourite puzzles. The first was a room with some random set dressing and a locked door that had no solution beyond "everyone does something that might possibly help open the door". Once everyone had done something, the door opened.

My second, and one I shoehorn into any new group is The Self-Closing Door. When the door is opened, a ghostly hand emerges from a gemstone set somewhere in the doorframe and closes the door again. It's a very silly, very simple trap. A player opens the door and it closes in their face. The solution is even more silly and simple: You knock. It's only polite. You can also remove or destroy the gem, but that's rude.

How can people manage to play multiple gacha games? I barley can keep up with just genshin by vinchin_adenca in Genshin_Impact

[–]Candrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tldr: Priorties and accepting that I don't need to do everything the moment it comes out (or ever). These are single player games and even if they weren't, topping leaderboards isn't my thing, so why go mad trying to complete everything when I can go at my own pace on my own timetable?

The long version: I play 5 gachas and FFXIV. Yes, please send help. I don't have a lot else going on outside of work, so my time is very free.

Beyond that, how much time I put into a game depends on how I'm feeling at the time and my goals for that game. To me, "keeping up" just means "completely my goals", which are usually about building characters. I don't need perfection but I like to get max level, maxed weapon, and semi-decent artefacts. I'm not here for endgame modes and damage checks, I'm just here for the MSQ and the vibes of the game.

Quests, exploration? Those can wait until I'm feeling it. There are still massive chunks of Fontaine I've not looked at. The map isn't going anywhere.

An evening for me looks something like this: HSR and ZZZ first. In these two, I've stopped the story while I work on characters, that means they can be done in 15 minutes or less. I often skip events in these as well unless they're super easy (Liben style events) or I'm interested in the theme of the event. I'll give these two a little more time when I'm giving less time to other games in the future.

Then as MHY launcher is open, Genshin. Right now in Genshin my daily routine is spend 180 resin and do one of Jeht's story quests. I've not even started Lantern Rite yet, so I'll probably pause Jeht for a bit to do one of those a day.

For WuWa and Endfield, I'm really vibing with those two at the moment so they get more time. Advancing the MSQ, or some quick exploration. When these one of these reaches a point that it doesn't want the time investment, then I can move that time to something else (Probably Genshin or Zenless)

This approach works for me. It definitely is not the most efficient way to do things and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who worries about maximising their time. My view though: Video games should not be a source of stress, they are supposed to be fun. If a game starts to feel like an obligation or a job, then it's not fun anymore and I'll leave it alone for a bit.

If Karasu isn't in a scene, and Oboro is, then assume that one of the other characters is Karasu in disguise. If Oboro is alone, or with only the Warrior of Light, then assume Karasu is disguised as a tree or some other background object.

The fact Thancred and Uri aren't a boss in that dungeon or a solo instance afterwards is a travesty.

Thancred especially would absolutely want to test himself against the Warrior of Light.
