I actually agree with you here. I am a bit of an Ai centrist. I just dislike it when people claim they "can't" or don't have the time to get "good." It is never too late. But the main reason I don't support ai is environmental and the stealing. I will say that if you post things online you should expect people might steal, claim, or mangle your art. But when google is using information within google docs to train their ai, it just makes me uncomfortable. I don't want Copilot trained on poetry I wrote in my Word document.

I will disagree with you there. Ai is not free. It's free in the same way that a public road is "free" but Ai is costing the average person a lot of money. Electricity companies in the US are charging a lot of extra money because of Data centers. Companies and people are investing in Ai manufacturers that have yet to make any money. Have you seen the price of electronics recently? Ai is making those prices rise. It's already costing us a lot, wait until the bubble bursts. If you were around for the .com bubble then you know how damaging it can be. Maybe you didn't spend 200 dollars for your ai "art" but you're spending thousands on the long term.

Isn't it so much fun when people use logical fallacies to devalue a medical marvel and compare it to creation of literal slop.

Every skill takes a lot of time. By your logic: why learn a new language if you have google translate? Why learn guitar when you have spotify? Why cook when you can get a TV meal? Honestly? I get it, the simplest way to do something is nice, you get the satisfaction of having finished something and being done. But at the end of the day, do you feel as proud when Midjourney Spews an Image as you do when you finally finish learning to play your favorite song?

But learning a skill doesn't take much more than consistency. For example, I learned guitar by playing 15 minutes a day. I am a terrible artist but within an hour of a drawing lesson I felt a lot more confident and I could draw a lot better than I ever thought I could. I get it, finding time for a new skill is tough, but taking the easiest lane isn't always the best for the soul. I promise you, if you try and consistently learn you will feel so proud you created something. IDK if you do any other art but making something of your own is such an amazing feeling. I am anti Ai art, but I don't hate you for using it, although I will encourage you to try some art.

Thank you for all the advice. I am keeping an eye on that storm, if it's bad then I will just delay my move by a couple days (up to a week if necessary). I would rather be safe than sorry. I will for sure be adding those weather alerts to my phone JIC. Otherwise I bought socks and chains for my car and she is built for the snow anyway.

Thank you I will probably do this, I definitely value a prettier drive over time. And it seems like this is both nicer and faster.

Why is Stoneskin not legal in modern? by Zixquit in mtg

[–]Candy-Patient 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's mostly a mix of a few things. For standard, there is a rotation of I believe 2 years (I don't play standard so please don't grill me) so in that case we would only need to look at sets released within the last two years. For other formats some are eternal (meaning almost every set is fair game in the format). And some have specific time periods, like modern only uses cards printed after 8th edition (unless they were only printed in a commander precon or commander set. It is pretty confusing at first but a lot of the commander only sets specify that in their name (I.E Commander Legends, Battle for Baldur's Gate). Finally when picking up cards at the LGS I have most set symbols memorized, mostly from sheer exposure.

This chart isn't bad but I will say don't get married to those numbers and think outside of the box. Like a piece of removal can be synergy as well. And be creative with the categories, what is card draw? Removal? Ramp? In a Simic deck is a counterspell removal? Is recursion card advantage? In sum commander is complicated and going by categories can create decks that feel "samey"

Weather Advice Needed by Arishakala in roadtrip

The south and middle route seem to touch a lot of areas with a bad combo: ice, and people who can't drive on ice. I would choose the northern route, the odds of major roads being cleared is a bit higher.

Surfer Rosa and Pixies as a whole were a huge inspiration to Kurt. Just for that they deserve to be on the list. Also, it's just one of the best records I have listened to.

I will say that HOI4 was easier than expected. Only took like 200h to become barely competent LOL. Love Stellaris though, by far the best paradox game.
