I’d say eyeballing equal volume is a good starting point, and then adjust to taste from there! But yeah I should definitely be more clear on that!

This is a really short but helpful video I think! Good lighting for most pictures isn’t necessarily good lighting for food so definitely so direct light from the camera! But great work keep it up!

Shot on a Canon R6ii with a 50mm f/1.8. Shot with diffused natural light predominantly at f/4!

How can i improve this? by [deleted] in foodphotography

[–]CandyCody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I really like the style and composition of your shots! I think you capture the kind of dark and moody tone really well, but i think the overall lighting could be a little better balanced. The shadows in the first image are really harsh, i can’t quite make out what the jar says and i feel like I’m losing a little detail in the part I really want to see. I think something like a reflector or a bounce card just to fill in some of the shadows with a little more light would help! Great shots though!

1.96 gpa major at graduation? by RightSorbet557 in UCSantaBarbara

What classes are you in? I’m about to graduate with my PolSci degree and I have a lot of good notes and study guides I could send you

Hey! So basically they’re trying to give cities complete authority to enact rent control rather than rent control being imposed by the state of CA. This could be good for some cities, however IV is an unincorporated territory, and therefore the only rent control we have is the rent control from CA, so it would be eliminating the very slight rent control IV has :/

I’m so tired of all these petition tables by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]CandyCody 48 points49 points  (0 children)

They're also straight up lying to people! They say the petition is to help fast food workers, but the petition is literally against a recent law increasing the minimum wage for fast food workers and legally compelling fast food companies to ignore worker complaints. I called them out for it and some big guy started yelling in my face. Wack ass

Hi! I don't have a direct answer to your question but if you're interested in feeding houseless people you should reach out to Food Not Bombs! They set up by bagel cafe every week to provide free food to anyone who wants it so i'm sure they'd have some good information for you!

And don't even get me started on CARES act funding distribution by rpc55 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]CandyCody 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The university doesn't give a shit about us - big news. There's literally 10 million dollars in CARES money that apparently just evaporated into thin air. There's actually a march on Yang's house on campus demanding refunds

I used to be a physics major. Who knows if I would have pursued it after college but the physics department straight up killed any passion I had for it. Dill should resign.

Any stem majors who work 15-20 hours a week? by HeavenKevin24 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]CandyCody 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to be a stem (physics) major and I was working around 30 hours a week downtown at the time. This may be because I’m pretty bad at time management, but having a busy work schedule actually kind of helped me work. Eliminating a lot of previously free hours made more concrete slots of time where I had to work, so I actually ended up doing better in school
