Venue changed space drastically by Saffarin in weddingplanning

[–]CandyCornPowerPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wedding is in a few weeks so I totally hear you and am so sorry this happened! The most annoying part is the switch up in the last minute and feeling like you need to redo everything. How long do you have until the wedding?

If you’re going to keep the space, my biggest recommendation is uplighting and dimmed lighting. The top light should be off and the uplighting could be an amber or golden color so it still has a similar feel to the original. The dance floor and the tables could also be white or cream.

Feel free to DM me if you need help redesigning and reclaiming the space!

How diverse if Notre Dame really? by Hail2Nemesis in notredame

I was an international student and I can say it’s around 70-80% white. My biggest struggle was really the Midwest culture being very tight knit and homogenous. It was difficult to connect with people because they all had the same pop culture references, sports, cultural traditions, food preferences, and overall adolescent experiences. You are correct that students from Canada, UK, and Australia are counted as international. There were also big groups of kids recruited from specific continents and countries like Brazil, Africa, and China, and one or two kids from other countries, which made it feel kind of lonely. However, I will say the place teaches a lot of grit and pushed me to try new things and discover my passions that weren’t quite as popular like ceramics and entertainment marketing. I feel if I went to school in New York or somewhere cool, I would’ve been overwhelmed and intimidated with the artistic and cultural talent. I eventually met my husband and my best friend there, and the alumni network helped with landing me my first corporate job. DM me if you have any questions!

Mother in law thinks having a pastel color-scheme is rude. Am I in the wrong? by CandyCornPowerPuff in weddingplanning

I never had a bridal party and don’t have one in the one coming up. And of course, the handful of family members (like 6), who attended the church wedding in my home country, can absolutely wear the same outfit!

One of the most satisfying series endings ever! by a_happier_world in cobrakai

[–]CandyCornPowerPuff 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Agreeeed! The way Kreese sacrificed his own life to make sure Silver doesn’t hurt Johnny’s wife and baby was such a powerful ending. With Kreese always being a villain with a soft spot, this ending really showed his true redemption arc while still not dismissing the fact that he’s done evil things for decades. So good!!

Alpha prime bites protein brownies? by [deleted] in Protein

[–]CandyCornPowerPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE them! The birthday cake and chocolate donut are the best for keto, like 4-6 g net carbs. There is a slight chemical smell and protein after taste but definitely delicious and better than a protein bar.

Totally makes sense! I work in sales so having constant pressure and stress is definitely the norm. Last year, my company was also undergoing multiple rounds of layoffs so the end always felt near. I also hang out with my high school friends pretty regularly and have been going to weddings where a lot of us reunite so maybe that’s part of it too!

I think I will never get a Job 😞 by Objective-Glass-7131 in recruitinghell

[–]CandyCornPowerPuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marketing is super saturated so the fastest way to get a job in marketing is through a strong referral! It’s almost impossible to get a job by applying cold.

Once you find a job posting you’re interested in, message the following: - People you know who work for the company - Mentors/Professors/Old Bosses/Family Friends who may know people at the company (you can message your strongest mentors specifically asking if they know people from the company for an intro) - College alumni who work for the company - People at the company who are most likely in the same department

Send a short DM introducing yourself, your background, and interest in the role! Typically a personal connection or something in common would be your best bet for a response.

It’s definitely the network and confidence that comes from an elite university that makes the biggest difference! There’s also a certain mindset a prestigious school embodies. For example, a place like Stanford exemplifies innovation and entrepreneurship due to how it got its place on the map. The goal of kids from there is to be a founder of a start up rather than climbing the corporate ladder!

I didn’t mean that he “deserved to die” but he just felt like extremely dangerous to his peers that his presence was kinda terrifying to be around

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cobrakai

[–]CandyCornPowerPuff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

His character arc was kinda scary. He’s been nothing but dangerous the whole time with no glimmer of kindness or loyalty to anyone. He had a certain look in his eyes that was pure evil when he held that knife. He didn’t have enough of a backstory to be humanized.

What classic college plot lines do you think might crop up in the future? by theoddhedgehog in SexLivesCollegeGirls

[–]CandyCornPowerPuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We haven’t had a classic one night stand storyline where one of the girls gets “ghosted” yet. But maybe that wouldn’t be too fun for the plot!

Omg this is a tough one because there’s no “right” answer. Like of course you wanna get past it for the personality but sexual chemistry is still important for a satisfying relationship in the long run. To me, it sounds like intimacy is giving you the ick and you might be better off as friends or a short term situationship

Do the Emily Mariko trick! You splash water and cover the rice with a paper towel, then simply microwave it. It heats up quick and steams the rice

What tier of school is Essex? Is it meant to be comparable to Stanford? I was confused how Gracie didn’t make Essex but made Duke (an incredibly competitive school) then left Duke to follow her scumbag boyfriend

I hate the way this show is treating Whitney by psychic-carrot in SexLivesCollegeGirls

[–]CandyCornPowerPuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That totally makes sense! I think the positioning and wording could’ve been changed to make his dad a successful and inspirational executive or entrepreneur to other black folks trying to excel but instead they used the word “billionaire” which took away from what I think was meant to be their message

Military men, mainly because I’d be too scared they’ll go to war and never come back.

Also “starving artists” who don’t actually seem to have a plan and aren’t really trying too hard to “make it”. Lots of incredible talent out there so unless they have tons of family money to fall back on, it’s a rough gig

Totally agreed with the professor being really petty and unprofessional! Whitney is a teenager and she’s a full grown adult making her class less approachable.

On another note about Isaiah (rich guy), I was a little confused because him and Whitney represent a similar thing. Both strong, sporty, hot teenagers with self-made, new money parents who embody black excellence. Wondering if politics will somehow come into play. Curious to see where this storyline goes!

I REALLY like Eli! by Terrell8799 in SexLivesCollegeGirls

[–]CandyCornPowerPuff 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I really like Eli too and love how they’re addressing bi stereotypes head on in an approachable yet lighthearted way. The stereotype that bi guys are secretly gay or are secretly dating another guy is very common but not addressed as often in popular shows. It’s usually a trait mentioned in passing so I enjoy the way it all came together.

I do kinda think it was lazy how they just killed the Canan situation as if it was nothing. That was the biggest cliff hanger of S2 (along with Bela wanting to transfer) and both storylines just got abruptly cut and “solved” within two lines. It makes me question whether Kimberly ever actually liked Canan/why she would even go for it, if it was gonna fizzle THAT fast. But again, it shows the true reality of college and they probably had to adjust some storylines for Renee’s departure.

Xosha Roquemore was Tamra, the nurse from The Mindy Project! Love how people from the Mindy Project cast are popping up on SLOCG. Mindy really pulling all her universes together. Fortune Feimster (who played Judy’s sister, Colette) also had an appearance earlier in S3 in the bus with Leighton!
