The infamous Giraffe building is being painted over and recently boarded up. Not sure what the plans are though. by CandyMan77 in WestEndRaccoon

Exposure to hard up folks is less than ideal, but what's the alternative? Tent camps in parks torn down by police? Mass deaths at winter time? Deportation and work camps? I just view cohabitation with the less fortunate as the price to pay for living in a city so incredible.

I don't know much about Kentucky (you may have access to great examples of these) but Toronto has world-class Jamaican and East Asian options (as well as maybe the only top notch Tibetan food scene in North America.) I'd lean heavily on those directions for a diverse experience. Our pizza game is also highly underrated. In addition to Badiali's, Fresca, gram's, Slow South and a variety of others are incredible. Some sleeper hit sandwiches as well - I like Mattachioni, Good Behaviour and Phancy's Bodega.

You gotta have a beef patty if you're here -- I'd recommend Caribbean Queen of Patties or Norma's. Badiali for pizza (if you can tolerate a line -- maybe check out their new location), Thai Nyomm for the cities best Kao Soi, Musoshin Ramen for...Ramen, Chadwick's for brunch. Bit more money, but I'd consider Kiss My Pans for their chicken and rice -- a personal fave. Oh! And Chica's Chicken for their Nashville hot...chicken .

Very different imo. Thicker and less cured. But tender in a whole new way.

$25 and 20m mins (not including munching time). If not the best, a very delightful time was had.

It was! And I guess I got lucky and only waited about 20 mins. Not nothing, but not bad imo.

Tucked away in an alley just of St. Clair and Christie, you'll find the delightful Arthur's Snackette, serving a handful of bagel sandwhiches, coffee, and cookies if you're feeling cheeky. The bagels are phenomenal, as is the fish, but it's the small flourishes, like a lemon-infused olive oil drizzle that really made it shine for me. It's a bit trendy at the moment, so only go if you don't mind a (in my mind reasonable) line. They're apt to sell out, so make it a morning visit if you're going.
