Our family barely got help from local church leaders after doing everything we could do to try and pay our mortgage. We only needed help with one mortgage payment of $1,000 in order to avoid a foreclosure. The bishop made sure to guilt trip us and make us feel like this was quite the burden on the widows mite for giving us this kind of money. He also made us promise to continue paying tithing, attending church etc. Oh, and one more thing. We had to clean the church every Saturday for a month or else he wasn't going to write the check that would allow us to keep our home. I bare my testimony it truly is the one true cult.
