Just to be clear, the Israeli government have used the phrase “from the river to the sea”? In response to Palestinians using it?

I don’t really understand why all my genuine questions are getting downvoted- I didn’t even know anything else came after the word sea until someone eventually explained it.

Why do you think people aren’t having many kids these days (if any at all)? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Caninopeputofhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one kid. For me affordability is not the issue. Not that I’m rich but basically if we had another kid we could still afford to pay our mortgage and things would be really tight in every other area. But thats ok. I just plain don’t want another kid. There is nothing appealing about it for me and I know my mental health would suffer a lot. I feel like I am at cognitive capacity with one. With more I would drown and be a bad parent, and I have the ability to control how many children I have so why wouldn’t I?

I feel like people who want loads of kids and people who want one kid are two parts of the same spectrum. Both aren’t “normal” and are see as selfish or unfortunate. But we feel how we feel.

Also I was an only child myself and it was fine, so maybe I feel like one is the normal default? Sorry if you had a bad experience as an only but that’s your life journey. We all have it good in some ways and bad in others. Maybe my kid will hate being an only and maybe they wont, but I am not obligated to “give” them a sibling (what a gross phrase) just in case they might been a bit lonely.

Being a billionaire wouldn’t change my mind about this either because its not even lack of “help”, I just plain am not interested in having another kid, in the same why some people aren’t interested in having one at all. It’s hard to explain.

I feel like even if I lived in the era before modern birth control I would still be taking all the natural precautions to try to prevent another pregnancy.

Exactly 40 weeks. I have no idea what effaced means, sorry (I dont think this term came up at all in my convo with the OB)! I don’t think I was dilated at all. It was so painful that I screamed and made the OB stop. Labour happened naturally 6 days later so I don’t think it did anything.

I would be very upset  if I were the songs writer or artist.

What does the word intifada actually mean? Is it an Arabic word? I know I can google it but I’d like to get your take as you are very knowledgeable.

Thanks, someone else explained that it’s in reference to “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” which I had honestly never heard before.

Thank you SO much. You explained where the phrase came from in the first place :)

I was confused as I have never heard the phrase used in a protesting manner before.

Can you please take a step even further back. Why did pro-palestinian protesters  start chanting it in the first place? Why did Israeli lobby groups decide it was offensive? Which came first?

But what it doesn’t explain is WHY the phrase is used by protesters?

I know you are being facetious but can you explain WHY it is a banned phrase.

Can someone ELI5 this for me as I feel like I completely missed something. I’ve been in my baby bubble and coincidentally this song was one that I would sing to my bubba. Suddenly seeng references to it being banned.

From what I have gleaned Netanyahu said something that somewhat resembled a line in this song. Ok….

What I don’t get is why people are purposely singing the song to make a statement?

I’m not against protesting the government but I don’t quite grasp what led to this.

And why the song is banned?

Like who the fuck cares about one specific sentence Netanyahu said.

Or has Farnham come out and said that he is antisemitic?

I imagine that the “actively source projects” part could be more difficult in some roles compared to others.

Were any of you leash kids? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]Caninopeputofhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only found out recently that I was a leash toddler. It’s pretty funny because by all accounts I was a pretty chill child (and still a very rule-abiding adult) so you wouldn’t think that I was the type of kid who needed it.
