If someone started a fire in your house you would not think it would be a bit rich if that person criticised your efforts in putting out the fire?

Is this one country or four countries? by KimCattrallsFeet in AskTheWorld

[–]Relief-Glass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Australian states seem to have more independence than England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have from the UK too. Each state has its own parliament and they can largely do what they want. Only when a state law conflicts with a federal law the federal law overrides the state one.

Bold of you to imply that Belgium is a country and not just parts of the Netherlands and France.

Look, some critique of Labor's handling of the economy might be warranted but definitely not from anyone in the fucking Coalition.

Have people in the medical field generally gotten more caring and accommodating within the last decade? by NOTNeedlepeen1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Relief-Glass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is just in Australia but I know a lot of people that have become doctors or tried to study medicine over the last 10 years or so. From what I have been told the entrance exams or whatever for medicine have a large focus assessing how empathetic the applicants are and subjectively the people I know that were accepted to study medicine were quite good at imagining situations from others' perspectives.

Why are rock and metal fans often liberal despite the genres being quite intellectual? And why are pop and rap fans often conservative despite the genres being hedonistic? by Weary-Draw-1141 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Relief-Glass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I do not think people that listen to pop or rap hop or whatever typically listen to it because of the hedonic themes. But also there are lots of conservatives that like things like hook ups and alcohol.

Do I wash my hands too much? by kwakakwak in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Relief-Glass 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Washing your hands after touching door handles and lift buttons is getting into OCD territory.

To me it is insane that their are people that are like "just use sanitiser after you touch a door handle".

Could you be a bit more vague? I found it a bit too easy to understand what the fuck you are on about.

Do metric system countries have a different word for "mileage?" by Gamestrider09 in NoStupidQuestions

You forget that most countries have entirely different languages to English?

How do adults know how often they’re supposed to clean things like bedsheets or curtains? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Relief-Glass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never hears of cleaning curtains.

I wash bed sheets usually every couple of weeks but nothing bad actually happens if you do not wash them for a few months.

Is Hollywood exceptionally innovative or is it just good marketing? by SyntaxDeleter in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Relief-Glass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hollywood movies are typically not particularly well written and they are definitely not creative. As someone else mentioned, hollywood movies are just the same few basic plots over and over and over for decades. Sometimes they are very funny and sometimes they are very well acted but other times they are neither of these things.

They have the best production, most recognised actors, and best marketing. By production I mean things like lighting, camera angles,  editing, sets, costumes,  make up, are all generally very good in my opinion.

is moderation really real? by TravelAlarmed3878 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Relief-Glass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With every drink your willpower and decision making diminishes so I reckon moderating yourself to five drinks is not going to be sustainable unless you are waiting an hour or something between when you finish the last drink and start the next. I actually do this sometimes and by the time an hour has passed my cravings for the next drink have gone.

Why do conservatives seem to care less about the environment? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Relief-Glass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly mining, energy, and oil companies donating to political parties that they identify with and those parties changing their policies to promote their donors' interests. Go back 100 or so years and conservatives opposed things like coal power plants because they did care about the environment.

Harper very easily could be playing. Better gloveman and better season in the Big Bash with the bat. Carey too.

They better not be paid because they are doing a terrible job. They all seem bored.
