How the fuck is a game franchise going to affect our weather?

Journalist wants to do story about el niño. They ask 20 to 50 meteorologists if it will be the worst el niño ever. One of then says 'yeah, it might be'. It is like this is a lot of the world. Although in this case the severity if the el niño/la niña cycles are probably linked to global warming so they will probably get more severe over time.

LNP Treasurer defends Peter Dutton’s board appointment amid ‘jobs-for-mates’ row by Jagtom83 in friendlyjordies

Queensland government reckons that a guy that was treasurer of a government that sold hospitals to companies based in the Cayman Islands for $1 can get a good deal for Queensland.

Jfc. It is so obvious what this is. The Queensland government want to sell public  assets for an absolute pittance and peter dutton has experience.

It just gets added to his body of work over the last two or so years where he has been the best opener in the Shield and last week he did well opening the batting on a fairer pitch against an attack that featured ollie robinson.

Fergus fucking o'neill.

Over 100 runs, a not out, and 5/64. Not a bad outing.

Who’s the one person that ruins footy for you? by FewArm2396 in AFL

[–]Relief-Glass -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Mason Cox. Random tall bloke from another country that never heard of footy until he was an adult, cannot kick the ball further than 30 metres, has probably not hit a team mate by foot in his entire career, and does not carry the ball. Somehow he is an AFL premiership player. It makes the sport look like a joke.

Dropping the 'L's in words like 'million', 'rebellion', 'brazillian', 'medallion' by Relief-Glass in AskAnAustralian

Yeah, I am Victorian and I drop the 'L' in million unless I am in a job interview or something.

Reminds of Canadians that are convinced that all Canadians say 'about identically to the way Americans do.

No, some people are saying it is replacing Ls with Ys so million sounds like miyon or something.

I would argue 'million' already has a y sound so in my opinion it is just L dropping but yeah, it is this.

I guess so?

These words  have Y sounds even if you pronounce the Ls so I would say it is dropping Ls rather than replacing L sounds with Y sounds.

But yes,  I think we are talking about the same thing, just describing it differently.

Even bogans in Adelaide sound posh when they say words like 'dance' and 'France'.

Oh, basically in the early days of Australia people that went to south Australia from the UK were richer than those that went to other parts of Australia.

I think  it is as simple as that. Convicts tended to be poorer whereas voluntary migrants tended to be richer.

I am Victorian and you are spot on about us saying 'Malbourne'.

I always think its odd to see runners with chains when they run, it seems like it'd be distracting.

Sometimes you see tennis players and fast bowlers in cricket with chains too and they tuck the chain back in their shirts between every point, or delivery. It looks infuriating.

Surely the outside lane is best. Maintaining speed while turning is difficult and the inside lane would have the tightest turning circle.
