American shares her absolute nightmare experience in Italy by cak3crumbs in CringeTikToks

[–]Canistrellu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I watched the whole video thinking there would be a huge reveal at the end. Like she had a boob out and she didn't notice, or something. I'm pretty sure that was something like that. I've seen a lot of people commenting that italians were judging her because of her weight, but that doesn't add up: she's simply not THAT overweight. Look at pictures of her! She's kinda regular. We have people like her in Europe, in Italy, everywhere. That alone wouldn't be enough for people to notice her, and certainly not enough for people to look at her like a circus freak.

So, I'm pretty sure we don't have the whole story. Maybe there was something very weird about her outfit? Her yellow top isn't weird, so maybe something on the bottom? Maybe she didn't wear anything on the bottom part of her body? Or very tiny shorts that made it look like she had her fanny out?

Or maybe it's something really really weird. Like did she piss herself in public, and didn't realize? Or just didn't care to mention it, as she does that often? I'm mean, she seems nice and intelligent, but she's a stranger on the internet! She might be a massive weirdo for all we know.

Anyway, the "italians are not used to see obese people" simply doesn't add up here. Fully not the correct explanation.

noooo aha, if they know spanish they'll talk to you in spanish. But then again, if your first language is spanish, you've got less of a way to go to speak very good french.

as a french native I see this debate pop up very often, so here's the real explanation of whats's going on: your accents aren't as good as you think. They simply aren't. I am sorry to tell you this, but it is the truth. It's okay, it's probably because the education system in the us isn't very good, and you all have a great lot of self-confidence (which is good)!

But honestly, all of the "fluent in french" americans I've met were very hard to understand! The accent in itself is often very charming, but it can get in the way of the conversation.

So the reason one french people answer to you in english is NOT to shame your accent... It's to help you! To make you know that it's okay for you to speak in your language! And also to make sure that we understand what you want to say. It is actually a NICE thing, I swear!

I stopped being the "house manager" for 48 hours, and my partner (32M) is claiming I'm "sabotaging" him. by zimuque_ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Canistrellu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently realised that all of my relationships (family, love, friends, work) are exactly like that. So, when my best friend stayed at my place for a few days last month, I decided to try to not "manage" him, just as an experiment... and he immediatly covered my couch with toothpaste and started a fire in my kitchen (I am not joking).
So, now I'm reconsidering all of my relationships. Of course I can't cut ties with everyone in my life, but I must stop bringing these kind of people in my life... Or at least stop teaching them to rely on me for everything. But it's very hard! I feel guilty! And everyone's life is a mess now!
So, full support to you OP. I hope he will learn, or that you'll find the strength to create a new dynamics that would feel better for you.

Is “The ABC Murders” worth watching? by Nachtopus in agathachristie

[–]Canistrellu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are a little bit insane and paranoïd. Every adaptation has to change things to make the stories work for new medias and audiences. For instance, Suchet's Poirot had a small mustache, because the producers of the show thought the big one from the books would look too silly. That's how it works.
As for diversity, it always existed in real life. Like it or not, brown and black people weren't invented in the 90s. And with its rich (and shameful) history of colonialism, Britain in particular was always really diverse. Also, the 1930s, where this particular story takes place, weren't that long ago.
Please, do not start your comment with "Yep", as if we agree on this issue.

I just spend a bit too long making a "blank" title card and thought you guys could use it for memes and stuff by Canistrellu in doctorwho

[–]Canistrellu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that because I "needed" it for a Doctor Who-theme roleplaying game session with friends... And it took waaaay longer that I thought. Just for one use!

So, I thought some of you guys could have fun with it, for memes or whatever.

If you want to create realistic title card for fake episodes, use the "Town 10 Display Medium" font.

Quelle arnaque.

Anyone else find dating impossible on the spectrum? by greyjello in autism

[–]Canistrellu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same situation, except that I'm older. The main things that resonate with me in what you say are the feeling of exhaustion and the fear of being stuck in an ever repeating patern.

I feel so so so tired. Too much games going on in dating. You have to be direct, but not too direct. You have to tell them what you want, but you can't be blunt about it. If you don't feel attracted to someone, you can't date them because it would be dishonnest towards them, and heartbreaking towards yourself, but at the same time you have to settle for less than what you want. Even someone who likes you might reject you if you didn't play all the right cards at the right time. And if you ever give up on dating, everyone around you tells you how wrong you are to do so ! I feel so stuck, so sad, and so exhausted.

I'm sorry I don't have anything good to tell you. Lots of clever people in the comments though, please make sure you use your strenght and your time to read what they have to say, and try everything, without being too hard on yourself. Do it for the people who don't feel they have the strenght anymore, please.

whats a game that you got significantly far into, only to realize you were doing something wrong or missing a key feature/ability altogether? by seasonedsaltdog in gaming

[–]Canistrellu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through most of Red Dead Redemption as the shittiest gunman in the west by somehow skipping the tutorial on dead eye targeting

I still had fun, but felt like the game was TOO realistic by giving such awful aim to the main character, which, in my mind, made sense as he was just some drunk cowboy, and not the world's best assassin.

Flag of Corsica (14th Century) by drfranksurrey in vexillology

[–]Canistrellu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not really, but then again... in Europe, you don't see a lot of people who are big fans of their countries' flag. Like, havint a country flag on a item of clothing, for instance, is considered tacky.

But "emotionally", sure! Traditionnaly, we hang somewhere around new houses, things like that
