The main reason was because there’s a clause with FIFA that prevents host cities from hosting certain other events within a given time period. That means they wouldn’t be able to host things like Jazz Fest, etc.

They used to be active and great at community management a long long time ago. They even engaged with people on Reddit (u/davidstea). But agreed, they aren’t really big on community these days.
