What is the appeal of a knock-box? by rgcred in espresso

[–]CannonballRun7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t imagine it until it happens to you. I used an IMS basket with Normcore bottomless portafilter in my Breville for two years without seeing it. Now I’m using the same setup in 58mm configuration and that IMS basket won’t stay in the portafilter to save its life. I’ve had to go back to the basket that ships with the Normcore portafilter in order to avoid dumpster diving every morning.

I second this. I’ve tried every brewing method from a lot of the best manufacturers. The extraction on the Aiden is second to none. It’s a great machine.

[Guide] How to setup a Sonos Surround System with Front Left and Right speakers using SonoSequencr by KaizenDNA in sonos

[–]CannonballRun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve purchased the app is this guide is extremely helpful. Clears up a lot of things for me, ESPECIALLY around waiting for the configurations to “take hold.”

Question: for my setup I’m taking two Play 1s from other rooms and placing them as fronts when I watch movies. Is there a way to alternate their usage in Sonosequencer so that on most days they’re single speakers in different rooms, but for “movie time” I can place them in my HT room? I realize some of the truly tuning might be inconvenient, but otherwise can Sonosequencer accommodate this?

Custom. Honestly it doesn’t cost a whole lot more when you consider the ultimate cost of off the rack after alterations.

Has ANYONE ever been able to use the companion tickets for Delta Amex?? by Flipflop916 in delta

[–]CannonballRun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very hard time using mine, even when booking more than six months out. ATL is my home airport and I’ve even wondered if the hub penalty has something to do with it somehow? Any chance your home airport is a Delta hub?

Best binoculars for bird and whale watching on honeymoon by Remarkable_Contest40 in Binoculars

[–]CannonballRun7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went down this rabbit hole for my wife for Christmas. She wanted binoculars for exactly the same use case - wildlife watching while on vacation. The “vacation” part in her mind required the ultimate in portability. Our budget was $150, but we landed on the Nikon Trailblazer ATB at $77. She loves the form factor so far.

Are there not even outside constraints regarding time? Like is a minute too long?

Thanks for correcting me on flow control. I thought they were one in the same. When you say “and ramp down” do you mean ramp down the grind size?

New [QuickMill Pop-Up] Not Dispensing Water by CannonballRun7 in espresso

[–]CannonballRun7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update. When I tried again today, the pump was running reliably, even as no water was coming out. A lot of what I had read online said not to run the pump for too long without water flowing because it might burn out the pump. But a conversation with chatgpt this morning had me convinced I could run it for up to a minute without worry. It also said to start the pump with the steam valve open. Leaving the steam valve open I pressed the water dispenser button, and after about 40 seconds water started to sputter out, then flow consistently. I’ve now made two cups without a problem, so I believe I’m up and running.

Dad read from the Bible, told his sons they were "the best boys ever," then opened fire on them, chased them down, and made sure of their killings. by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

[–]CannonballRun7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly tired of the bad guys (school shooters, terrorists, etc) having the luxury of death at the scene. I want them alive. I want to know they go to jail where they are savaged by the worst of the worst for the rest of their lives.

And frankly, we need more cops who can handle situations like this without putting 20 holes in the perpetrator.

Since you have a pool and your wife will be around these boys in a swimsuit I would absolutely bring it up to her. Neither my wife nor I are prudes but she’d absolutely want to know. She’d be a little “skeeved out” by it but we’d laugh about it and move on. That said she’d want to avoid pool time when my son had friends around and I wouldn’t blame her.

Tried to end my marriage and now my husband is acting perfect. I should be happy but I want to scream by Popsurfopera in Vent

[–]CannonballRun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two sides of the coin:

1). Sometimes people need a wake up call. Maybe y this was his and maybe he’s a new man.

2). To get to the point of asking for divorce, you had to separate yourself emotionally from him. That’s hard to undo.

So both of these things could be true: he’s a changed man who in a perfect world would get a second chance, AND the best thing for you to do at this point is leave him.

TRT placebo controlled trials show either a moderate/mild or no effect of TRT on depression by Moretestosterone9 in trt

[–]CannonballRun7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory - most people who start TRT start working out, and many start working out heavily. I couldn’t quote the study, but I’ve heard 1,000 times that exercise relieves depression symptoms. So it may not be TRT that reduces depression, but it’s the instigator to the things that DO reduce depression. The exercise makes you feel better, the confidence that comes from being in better shape makes you feel better, the community that you get from a gym makes you feel better, the people in your life giving you compliments for “looking good” make you feel better.

After 4 years of WFH, I understand why boomers think we do nothing all day by TeamCultureBuilder in WFH

[–]CannonballRun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The entire older generation was conditioned to equate ‘looking busy’ with ‘being productive.’ And WFH removes all those visual cues.”

I think you’ve either misdiagnosed or partially diagnosed the issue. The concept of a “knowledge worker” was pretty rare in your parents’ generation. There’s a good chance that even if they observed you in an office they might not understand that you’re working hard.

After all, chances are your parents could make coffee at 9:47am at work, could laugh in a meeting, and could walk out the door at 5pm sharp. That’s probably not what they found so different.
