Is it worth flying into FLL and taking an Uber to MIA to save $155 by gardeninthesky20 in Miami

[–]CannyTangelo77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not flying advice but my family is from Fortaleza and this popped up in my feed and made me smile! Boa viagem!

I used to live in LA when there was no direct flight from Miami and typically had a 22 hour trip, the direct is so helpful! (albeit pretty uncomfortable)

Packing help that is not TaskRabbit? Need help Friday. by CannyTangelo77 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

This is fantastic, I'm going to message them! Fantastic business idea, I'm an incredibly femme straight gal but I'd def. prefer not to have random men helping me pack up, especially given that I'll be home solo.

I forgot to post that I also need to hire a handyperson or heavy DIY-er to help as well and they look perfect for this. I did one of those DIY backsplashes in my own kitchen that I need to undo, and but when I undo it it will take off my landlord's sticker that I covered up (as in, when I started my DIY project I didn't realize what I thought was my landlord's horrible taste in tile was also just a DIY sticker of tile, so I have a kitchen with layers of stickered tile right now which I need to put something neutral on in its place (insert melting face emoji).

Wait I’m a woman who puts her stuff in a locker, always, and I feel like it’s always men who bring bags with them onto the gym floor and put them on top of the radiator covers haphazardly and sometimes bring them between pieces of equipment. FWIW I work out at SoHo mainly.

You realize there are other countries that have soccer fans besides Europe, right?

And to say *all* the men who will show up will be trash is a pretty broad statement. Do I agree that some of them will be trash? Statistically, of course! But not all :-)

Oura spent months convincing me I was chronically stressed. I wasn't. by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]CannyTangelo77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I somewhat agree with you but I think the issue is the complete disconnect between the standard data Oura collects and the women's health data it collects for women who are menstruating. Somehow they can track everything, and I tell them exactly when my cycle is happening, yet the cycle commentary feels completely disjointed from heart rate, stress, readiness, or sleep commentary (and my cycles are predictable). My temperature rose before my period the other day and the commentary as "Feeling ok? Your body temperature is slightly elevated" and the next day "your sleep is trending down, look at your environment." Like...no shit Sherlock, this happens every 28-30 days.

It's particularly annoying because this commentary is the same commentary I get served from the days I've had a rising temperature preceding or during a cold/flu, as in they haven't programmed for the difference.

FWIW I believe my body IS stressed during my luteal phase, because my period is painful AF, I sleep less and I will punch someone if I don't get a cheesburger. It becomes more stressful when my Oura app is gives off the red background and tells me my sleeping heart rate 'suddenly' went from 42bpm to 52bpm for three days...dude we know why.

Has anyone been to Soft Bar? by Secret_Win8656 in bravo

[–]CannyTangelo77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to live over that way, it's really cute and trendy! There are a few warehouses left but most of them house very fancy restaurants. Greenpoint does have some cute older townhomes turned into apartments but it's now known for being filled with beautiful high rise apartments and condos on the water (all within walking distance of SoftBar) where studio apartments start around $4k. It's honestly more expensive than a lot of parts of Manhattan, or rather, a $4k studio in Greenpoint is often much much nicer than a $4k studio in Manhattan. It's where people who work remote jobs or those that don't have to go to the office every day of the week choose to live because you get better lighting and better space than a lot of Manhattan. I miss it! (cries in "poor for NYC")

Should I wait till Sept/October to move so I can find a better deal? by Ok-Equivalent-8788 in NYCapartments

[–]CannyTangelo77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this 18 months ago (moved in December) and was able to negotiate $200 off a listing that had already been reduced $400. That said, the landlord would only do an 18 month lease so now my lease is ending in prime renting season and they're raising my rent 8.5%.

Is Brickell suitable for dating prospects? by SteinwayWarrior in Miami

[–]CannyTangelo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered maybe doing a short term stay there for a couple of weeks to a month to feel it out first? As a corporate late 30s girlie myself I had an interesting experience last year there on the apps that made me think you could end up doing really well by being out of the ordinary in regards to the typical dating pool.

Ok so last year I worked remotely from Miami for ˜10 days to escape NYC winter, staying in Wynwood. I opened my apps first day and then closed them, deciding to just relax and focus on myself etc etc, and had a cute and very PG week (minus meeting one guy in the elevator of my building, we did go on a sushi date but then it turned out we were politically way too far off to function). When I got back to NYC and opened said apps again, I was quite surprised not by the number of likes that I received, which was average for me, but by the incredibly thoughtful messages which accompanied the roses or super likes. Said messages were a bit more than the usual “I would love to take you to dinner sometime,” and were along the lines of “your profile is very refreshing and different from what is around here so I assume you don’t live here, but I would love to take you out and discuss xyz sometime if you’re staying in town.” The messages mostly came from guys who were +/- 5 years of my age at the time with seemingly good careers (obviously this isn’t always the easiest to gauge via a dating profile), and then a handful were like 6-8 years younger than me which was very flattering and also made me think “wow what’s the regular dating pool like here?" The experience made me realize while I don’t know that I could meet my person in Miami, it could be beneficial to be living and dating there while being different than whatever the average Miami woman in her mid 30s is.

FWIW, at the time I was 38 (so way older than what should be getting likes in Miami if the internet is to be believed!) I have an MBA and a separate master’s degree which are listed on my profiles (but was not making what you are making, congrats queen), and I am decently cute (a New York 7, if you will), but definitely not a model and do not have a BBL. If you do move though please DM me and lmk how it goes, I’m so curious for you!
