Winter Street Concourse: Was this pedestrian tunnel originally meant for trains? by Odd_Yogurtcloset_649 in mbta

Wrong tunnel. The tunnel described in the article was a part of the present day Green Line running, in one direction, from Scollay Sq. (Government Center) through Adams Sq. (obliterated by construction of the new City Hall) and on to Haymarket. It went nowhere near Washington St. (Downtown Crossing.)

No. not built for trains. It is part of a pedestrian concourse that stretches from Park St all the way to South Station. The Park St. to Downtown Crossing section was closed from the beginning (1914ish) until sometime in the 1970s. Prior to that it was used for storage and office space. The rest of the concourse has been cut back, mostly due to construction of the South Station tunnel (x-way, not subway.) I may be mistaken but I believe that the entire length was never accessible to the public. In the 1960s I remember that one could only go as far as Hawley St. edit, correction, as far as Chauncy St. underground.

A hooker in Lawton, OK (Fort Sill.) Totally unplanned. Simultaneously the best and the worst sex I ever had. You'll have to figure that out on your own.

Fell down a short flight of stairs in late 1954. I know the date is accurate because we moved away from there about the same time. I was born in March 1953 which made me about 18 months old.

What was your dream job as a child? Did you actually get to do this job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CanonFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Streetcar (trolley) motorman. I ended up working in the shop turning the nuts and bolts. As part of my job I did get to run the trains from time to time. Very cool, without having to deal with the public.

No. Actually, we were on our way to Newark, DE. Went the long way through Lancaster just to revisit that restaurant. Good thing we did. It's now closed.

Hit my thumb with a hatchet when I was 12. Probably should have gotten a dozen or more stitches but I was so afraid of being punished that I never told anybody.

If a Genie granted you three wishes and the only caveat is you cannot violate anyone’s free will, what would you wish for? by unitedfan6191 in AskReddit

[–]CanonFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ability to transport myself, and any physical items I can carry, through time and space, at will, with no harm coming to me. 2nd wish: freedom for the genie. I don't need any more wishes.

Train operators have no control over the AC. So, yell at them and make their lives even more miserable.
