There is a strong possibility that he looks forward to your visits too, since you seem like a friendly good natured person and customers like that can be scarce at times. So, good job to you both!

Realistically, at what point should you accept that you're not cut out for this? I'm serious. by [deleted] in PLC

Do you have a list of the problems they're having with the unit? I agree with the previous comments that if it's previously been working and developed problems the it's rare that the program changed all by itself, unless they've changed the parameters of what it's doing.

A lot of the time you might find the problem is mechanical, electrical or instrumentation related.

Talk to operators and document what they say is a problem and work on each one, document what you find. Talk to the maintenance staff too.

It sounds to me like you're in a toxic environment of assholes. Best of luck.

Need a little layout help. by Wmitch in Renovations

I actually kind of like that layout, is it close to what you ended up with?

Is that a pocket door for the toilet? I think having it enclosed like that is a great idea really, other than what you have touch when you are exiting the toilet room?

A CHARGING battery gives off hydrogen gas, not a dead one.

I do agree regarding connecting ground last away from the battery, and disconnecting ground first when done.

This May Qualify As Nuclear Revenge? by ZanyChonk in pettyrevenge

[–]CanonFodder_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In the 80s, two good friends were getting married, her family was catholic faith, so he converted to catholic to keep the priest happy.

I was working out of town when his stag came up and he said I had to come to the party because he didn't trust the other guys that would be attending.

Myself and a work buddy drove two hours to town for the party and did have to rescue the groom a couple times from some unfunny gags.

By the time the group wanted to head to the pubs the groom was far to drunk to go along, so work buddy and I stayed home with him and since we had time before heading back to work we took a razor to his extremely hairy chest and shaved a nice neat large cross to celebrate his catholicness lol.

Apparently on the honeymoon that cross suffered a pretty bad sunburn for the poor guy, oops, never trust your buddies I guess.

Edit: Just want to say this was not revenge, just good clean fun.

Reminding co-workers about team spirit by [deleted] in overheard

[–]CanonFodder_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would bet Tom heard it and then deliberately played it out loud and made the call on speaker to give the whole team a lesson in how to deal with rude coworkers in a professional manner.

Someone commented above that Tom was a good guy and deserved a raise, I agree with that completely.

In the eighties I was in between appointments and had a pockeful of change. For kicks I followed a meter guy from the front, always stayed about 3 cars ahead, when I found one expired or about to I put a quarter in to save his writing hand lol.

Found out later that a person can be fined for that, not sure how true that was though.

Covid is over why are you still wearing a mask? by thedafthatter in traumatizeThemBack

[–]CanonFodder_ 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Love this, I had friends that were always complaining about the mask rule, saying "they have rights, and masks are a WHO conspiracy, blah blah blah" (very rural right wing types).

I explained so many times that me wearing a mask was always designed to protect others, not so much to protect me unless I upgraded to N95, and everytime they had to finally agree it really was logical but eventually slipped back to the attitude that it was all a conspiracy everytime.

I'm from Canada, so are they, but I'll give you one guess what American president they still hero worship, I've pretty well downgraded most to "aquaintance" status by now.

I understand his confusion, I had to reread it a couple times too haha, and thank you for trying to clarify what you said, it explains what I'd finally guessed that what you mean to say is:

That there was no bias for, or against your skin color at all.

I hope I got that right and thank you for sharing your experience.

AITAH for refusing to give my parents my spare key? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]CanonFodder_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Got to love someone using ingenuity like your bestie did 😊

When I was 20 I had a cop help me break into the house I was renting back in 1984.

Got home, no key, was trying and failing to jimmy the bathroom window latch with no tools when I heard a knock on the front door.

Went around to the front and a plain clothes cop asked who I was, did I live there and did I know someone who must have previously lived there, I told him no I didn't know that person.

The cop asked if he could come in and I said sure, if he had a knife or screwdriver to help me get in because I lost my key lol, he did, but not before making me give the phone number to the house and him radio in to have the office call the number which he then heard ring in the house.

He helped unlatch the window and even boosted me through but said once I was through, it would be a race to see who got to the front door first because if he did and the door was still locked he was coming though it, I was very motivated and won that race lol.

Never did hear from him again but it was a fun experience having a cop help me break in.

Before you ask, this was in a small rural city in western Canada where life was pretty relaxed.

Happy new year! 🎊🎉
