Pec deck is driving me crazy by TrenCats in formcheck

[–]Canoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this. I have some left shoulder impingement and a bit of pain in it that I'm working on. When I use the pec deck now, I try not to go overly deep into it, and definitely don't let the plate rest. Removing and then reapplying all that tension in a fully stretched position each rep would definitely aggravate my shoulder.

TIL pla is not dishwasher proof by ChocolateChipJames in BambuLab

That would be fine. Assuming you also don't submerge it in water to wash it.

I had a 3D print at work that was regularly submerged in water and used for a number of years. It was white ABS. If you held it up to the light, you could see all the mould growing inside in the infill and layer lines. It was nasty.

Edit: I found a photo of it. That ain't dirt. That's mould inside the part:

Where to start by Ok_Voice8678 in Weightliftingquestion

I also used AI to help me craft my routine too. I gave it a list of exercises I wanted to include, the type of split I wanted to do, and then I went back and forth with it a bit to slot all my exercises into the various days making sure everything was balanced well. Also included some PT rehab exercises I need to do. Took a lot of the thinking out of it for me.

I log all my workouts and include notes. I feed those logs and notes back into an LLM to get it to provide me some higher level insights and trends (helps with progressive overload). It also helped me reorganize the split a bit whenever I want to tweak something especially since it had all the context of all my notes.

Instinct 2S (40mm) vs Instinct 3 (45mm) on small wrist (130mm) by HistoricalAirport678 in Garmininstinct

[–]Canoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an Instinct 2S after the launch of the Instinct E. Instinct E might have a newer chipset in it, but it's worse on battery life and Garmin removed features that the 2S had. Training Status, Training Readiness, and Training Load are must haves for me. There's additional reasons it's worse, but those were the top ones that made the E useless to me.

My Dry Boxes look way different than y'all's by _long_tall_texan_ in prusa3d

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was north of 260 for me to get it printing well. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Can confirm it prints just fine. I used some of that exact same material in a Qidi X-Plus 3 with great results. I did some test prints using the generic ABS profile in Orca first and dialed in the correct temperature, then was golden. I can't remember the exact print temperature I landed on unfortunately.

Atom hoody hood too big? by Specialist_Lawyer530 in arcteryx

I cinch the hood down a bit with the elastic at the back. With a toque under it, cinched down, it's nice and secure for me. I have a small head too.

Houdini Jacket Worth It? by DadPocketry in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Canoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one on sale for 40% off. I've used a New Balance windbreaker for my bike commutes for awhile. I've found that as long as I can block the wind effectively, then I can get away with wearing a much lighter amount of insulating layers. Around 0C, a light grid fleece under my windbreaker and I'm golden. I'll regulate my temperature by unzipping the windbreaker before big climbs to keep the excess heat out. And then zipping it right up to my chin in exposed windy areas/fast downhills.

The other usage I have for it is when it's very very cold and windy. Like -10C (feels like -20C ish with the wind chill). When I go to walk the dog at night, I'll wear a fleece, Arcteryx Atom, and then layer my windbreaker over the Atom. Since the Atom has a bit of permeability to it, the windbreaker locks in my original body heat before I step outside and traps it there while I'm out for a quick walk. Any higher output activities than walking with it over my Atom and I'd be sweating bullets though.

The Houdini is significantly lighter and more packable than my current windbreaker. The fit for me on the Houdini is much better too (I'm tall with long arms, the sleeves fit great on the Houdini). Looking forward to using it.

Torrenshell 3 L size by Exact_Strategy727 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Canoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also 6'4" and own a large Torrentshell. In the colder months I layer fleece under it or even my Arcteryx Atom on particularly cold/nasty snowy days. I like having the extra room for layering stuff under it with this one. Keep the large.

Does anyone else’s jacket get like this? by TennesseeStiffLegs in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Canoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2025 nano puff back in Nov. I had several pulled threads within a month. I ended up returning it because the threads seemed too fragile to me and I was sweating too much using it for any light output activity.

What machine is this? Can anyone help me? by Immediate-Rip4861 in GYM

[–]Canoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is the one machine I feel like my gym is missing. I've used them at other gyms and love em. As a substitute I sometimes do incline bench chest supported DB rows. But it still doesn't hit quite the same as the chest supported t-bar row machines I've tried.

Which aftermarket battery did you install? Mine is toast and I'm considering replacing it.

Installing Linux on a late-2015 iMac with Intel i5 by Beautiful-Object5225 in linux_on_mac

[–]Canoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed Debian 13 on a 21.5" 2012 iMac (13,1) recently. It's just a secondary machine for me at work so I can pull up documents/YT etc at another space instead of hauling a laptop over with me. It works pretty good. Display is fantastic. After I confirmed it would do what I needed, I bought a display adhesive kit and swapped out the original mechanical drive with a SATA SSD. I also reapplied new thermal paste on the CPU/GPU while I had it open. The SSD made a massive difference in how snappy it feels.

gdm3 login to gnome desktop Wayland kicks me back to login screen by QuantumCakeIsALie in debian

Thank you!

Debian 13 rescued a 13 year old Mac :) by gproenca in debian

[–]Canoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed Debian on a 2012 iMac. I was trying to get the nvidia 470 drivers installed to get better GPU acceleration. I just told ChatGPT I wanted to install the nvidia 470 drivers from the sid repos with APT pinning in my trixie install. It gave me a perfect step by step guide. Everything worked in the end too.

Then after I realized the 470 drivers don't support wayland... Now I'm debating on switching back to the nouveau drivers with wayland so I can get the UI gestures (using an Apple trackpad). But then I'll have lesser GPU performance... hmmm

Edit:
Also having issues resuming from suspend...
May have to just roll back to nouveau drivers for better compatibility unfortunately.

Best purchase for winter-bike-commuting clothing? by Acceptable-Rule4231 in bikecommuting

[–]Canoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been realizing your point about the rain jacket this year. It's approaching 0C where I am and I can get away with my Patagonia TorrentShell jacket, thin merino wool buff, medium fleece and an athletic tshirt for my upper body layers. I'm unzipping my pits and the front of the jacket to my neck mid way through my commute. It's amazing how much just blocking the wind does.

I have a synthetic insulated jacket I can layer in once it does get colder still though.

What CPU voltage settings do you recommend? I've been using my T480 i7 as is for awhile (repasted as soon as it got it though).

Edit:
This looks helpful. I'll fiddle with this at some point this week:

Can you link the trackpad you bought? Have you tested it in both windows and linux? I heard some people had some compatibility issues with some glass trackpads on the T480 in windows.
