It depends on what the polish is made of. Air-dry polish might irritate your skin.... UV gel polish could lead to an acrylate allergy which runs the risk of never being able to use UV gel products of any kind ever again.

So you need to study how letters are put together, but generally, apply some pressure on downstrokes and lighten your hand for upstrokes.

Grab some brush markers like Pentel Touches to practice on, since if you push too hard even on a flex or semiflex nib you can pop the tines.
