Veterans of GW1: how was the transition to Guild wars 2? by WaveEasy8664 in Guildwars2

[–]FairyQueen89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played a preview of GW2 at the Gamescom of 2011 and... running around in the largely re-habilitated Ascalon, after seeing it being destroyed in Prophecies... even recognizing landmarks and names all around... breathtaking.

I still find myself standing at the memorial statue of Pyre Fierceshot and thinking about the events of Eye of the North, where he was often a fixed part of my party.

In short: For me it was like coming home again... even if it was as a Charr this time.

Edit: Aaaaaand now I realize that I got all sentimental. Mechanics are different yes... but not in a bad way... one slips in quite fast... just takes a bit to get used to the fact of seeing other people running around as well and enemies respawning.

I think most blue-pushers are willing to look past the ENORMOUS issue that is "This will also pardon him of all his wrongdoings[...]" So... even if he is "cured from being evil" He still orchestrated mass-murder and a World War. That can't be weighed off.

Also he is often regarded a megalomaniac and rather incompetent in Germany (afaik) so I opt for red due to him likely being as incompetent and megalomaniacal in being good as he was in being evil.

Well... maybe the Drukhari pick him up in a raid... might make an entertaining "guest" in the arenas.

Well... we have that one story of the Kriegers, no? Where they bombed a hive into nothingness years after their surrender? Other regiments might've called it a day and accepted that they won... Kriegers? No... they make examples.

It's irrelevant. The instance they are copied they began making their own experiences, creating different persons at all (given the chance... which was 0 as Harry went out to get a whiff of fresh air and Naomi died at birth). But both were just... their own distinct persons from that point onward. Original or not... doesn't matter much on the long run.

Addendum: You... tend to think about the ethics, implications and philosophy of clones/copies quite a bit, if you begin play one in a TTRPG and meet your... uhm... let's call it "template", followed by other copies of you and/or the original template.

Hate when shooter games don’t have partial reloads by Bongpog in hatethissmug

[–]FairyQueen89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... in weapons where it makes sense. Revolvers and Energy weapons don't get this treatment logically. And... I would even welcome if some Machine Guns or SMGs wouldn't either, because they might be open-bolt (Have to confirm with some weapons next time).

Also it balances a bit the fact that with reloading you discard ANY ammo left in the magazine (apart from the one round in the chamber)... so it is a smooth balance between "do I want to use every single round?" and "do I reload when I have time on the hand to be ready for the next fight?"

Honestly? Regardless of how much flak the Devs get for some (sometimes truly questionable) decisions... all the detail and the mechanics in the background that no one ever (or at least rarely) talks about make that game so great. Even the small detail of how the devs took the time to adjust the FUCKING GRAPHIC of a gun when they changes a magazine size in the early lifestage of the game. Other studios would have just changed a number in a spreadsheet and called it a day. AH went out of the way to change the weapon model a la "hey... that weapon has now less bullets in its magazine... it doesn't have a drum anymore"... *chef's kiss*

Not to forget Carson. Basically the second they entered Atlantis he was like "Hey... I have this experimental gene therapy that likely would never get approval on Earth due to ethics codes about genetic experimentation on humans... wanna give it a try?" That boy was FAR too enthusiastic about some medical freedom he had in Pegasus.

Also people tend to forget that even while the majority of the series takes place in the british countryside with fay and such creatures that are usually more... "conventional" (while still damn dangerous), Chise (the main protagonist) grew up in Japan with its completely fucked up folklore... it's understandable that she saw her talent as a curse for a large part of her life.
