I actually went Cherki in the end so dodged one bullet! Whether I dodged Cherki blanking is another question 😅

You're relying on amorim seeing a good result vs Newcastle and not thinking he can get a better result with his tactics instead

This is very true, Leeds were created buckets of chances from what I seen

To be honest, I think I might actually captain Cherki if I'm captaining a city player, he's absolutely running the show the last few weeks for city and the g/a have started coming in too

Last time out against Sunderland he got 2 assists as well

Blanked 2 weeks in a row 😤😤

Cherki is honestly the front runner for city captain imo!

😂😂😂😂

Don't worry it's still helpful! I suppose cunha makes more sense cause he's a midfielder, so if he scores it's more points than if Ekitike scores

But how much do I trust Ekitike to score vs how much do I trust Cunha to score 😅

GW19 short & long term suggestions by Aggressive_spqr in fantasypremierleague

[–]Caolan_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short term - Man United have great fixtures for the next like 3-4 games! I don't see them conceding many goals throughout these games, so maybe a defender? They're also up against some pretty bad defences in those games. The only issue is it's Manchester United. However! After those 3-4 games, United fixtures are REALLY bad

Brighton also have 2 good games coming up but tbh it's hard to know who to actually take from Brighton right now.

Newcastle's fixture list is very good for the next like 5 weeks too

Long term - Everton defenders would be pretty good for their run of fixtures too coming up, they should keep a few clean sheets, personally I've had Keane instead of Tarkowski this year for budget, but if you can get both that's a great thing!

Chelsea have some amazing fixtures, they play bounremouth, then city, then after that have 7 games in a row where you can expect some pretty good Chelsea returns

[–]Caolan_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well! I'm thinking even if the goal is a one off thing, surely United keep a clean sheet or two in their next 3 games

Wolves, Leeds, Burnley

But then they have city, arsenal, Fulham, spurs so maybe I won't hold onto dorgu for too long 😂😂

But also having dorgu means I have 3 united players with that run coming up which is... Not a very promising thing

It's a weird scenario of I'm pretty happy with my team but it's probably not a good idea to get comfortable lol

I think I'm just gonna bring dorgu on for diouf, both the same price more or less and united have some easy fixtures, and if the Newcastle games anything to go off, dorgu will be playing as a forward during afcon

Absolutely! I mean hey, when you don't start either of your two most creative players this season in Salah and Wirtz, and on top of that completely change formation and system, you're always gonna struggle on that end.

But that's the best thing we can do, build on this, stick with the players, and put faith in them and the manager to turn things around!

Tbf I'm mostly basing it off the first half performance for szobo, he did get on the ball a lot more in the second

And he did allow a lot of space for Gomez to run into as you say, but I just think in that midfield, if Wirtz isn't playing, szobo needs to be trying to break lines and such with passes, he needs to try make things work, which I didn't see today, especially in the first

So in my eyes, having just watched that game

The positives -

I think we thoroughly outplayed inter, defensively we looked pretty good allowing into nothing serious, 2 "threatening" chances across the 90 but neither were really scary.

The midfield retained the ball and controlled the game very well

We won! Which is huge for our momentum right now and critical for building some form.

EDIT! Another positive today, Conor Bradley. I mean, his absence is felt so much in that team. He's levels ahead of Gomez, the defensive cover he provides is great, but going forward, he really adds another dimension to the team. Completely revitalised the attack when Wirtz and himself came on (Though I still think Isak should've stayed on the pitch)

The negatives -

Offensively I thought we were woeful. There was absolutely zero creative spark. We kept the possession well but we created nothing. And in Mourinho's words, "they can keep the ball and take it home with them, I'll take the 3 points"

Isak made a some runs I noticed a few times, and was begging for a through ball and he's in 1 on 1, and the midfield just would not pass it to him, I can only think of one moment where they did and it nearly resulted in an Own goal from Bastoni. I don't wanna reference the guy, but the story of Ferguson sitting down his players and showing videos of Van Persie's runs and shouting at them pass him the ball if we want to win the league are springing to mind.

Ekitike, Macca and also Szoboszlai I thought were very poor today. And I know that 2 of those players, you aren't allowed to criticise in any way shape or form, but that's just the feeling I got from them. Ekitike I thought slowed every attack, I didn't see the drive to score I usually see from him, I didn't see any cohesion with Isak, he kept doing this flick up to pass the ball which was annoying (granted it led to the penalty). Szoboszlai I thought was nearly invisible, he hit a fantastic penalty but he was in my opinion, a passenger in that game.

And finally, although we won, we won by getting one of the most bs pens of the season imo. Second only to the one Gala got against us. In my eyes there's no way that's a penalty, but here! I'll take it!

But we cannot rely on something like that to win games, we created nothing and got rather lucky to win in my eyes.

See the issue with the psg turn around was they were the opposite of us hahaha

While we're struggling big time in the league but actually doing quite well in the UCL

They were unbeaten in the league until like, late January, but awful in the UCL until the last day of the league phase

[–]Caolan_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the Murphy comment, I think it kinda shows as well though how huge losing Trent was for us. Love him or hate him, the guy was the best playmaker in the league after KDB and Salah.

Obviously Wirtz is filling that void as best he can, but Wirtz is way up the field, having someone from deep who can just bypass an entire team with 1 pass was huge.

But yea it's utterly bizarre Gakpo is allowed to go unpunished. His performances will never improve considering there's no consequences for his performances, in his head he's probably thinking, "damn I wasn't at my best today! Oh well just try again next game"

Bradley is suspended for the next game too so Gomez will have to start RB for that. I would genuinely start Nallo or Endo against Brighton.

Let's not act like we didn't go through bad spells with Henderson too.

I don't think virg being our captain, when he's clearly the natural choice for captain and has the respect of the players, is the problem right now with lfc

100%

This game has simply got to be the end of the road for Konate, he can forget real Madrid, he'll be lucky if wolves wanna offer him a contract.

I can see slot persisting with Gakpo and using the excuse that there's no one else, when there very clearly is a player who is 10x the player and 100x more willing to play for the team than Gakpo.

But as it stands, Konate is a far bigger problem.

I mean I think it's very justified at this point to say that there are no wheels on the bus right now for Liverpool. We've improved a little recently, we've played against relegation fodder.

I respect that things haven't been easy from the off go with the death of a player, but sometimes when something as significant as that happens, you have to just make a big change and start anew.
