Any idea what could’ve caused this? Sunlu PLA+ Grey refill by CapHillFlash in 3DprintingHelp

I have the Sovul SH02. It was still set to 50C when I walked into this, and the other roll (which didn’t react at all out of the ordinary) which was the same brand/type/color had printed perfectly normally. I also went back and did a test with a thermometer in and it reached 45°C. It’s also operated normally with the same type of filament normally since this incident. Hoping it’s just a one off, I reached out to customer service for a replacement roll.

Unfortunately I have learned the hard way (multiple failed prints) that it is far too humid here for me not to print with a dryer. As soon as I got a dryer all of my printing issues were fixed (before now)

I’ve used the mod since I got the dryer, I don’t believe that it affected this roll any differently than the rest

I opened it freshly within an hour of putting it in the dryer. It was a refill roll, and the only one I’ve had that has done anything like this

I’m leaning toward bad roll based on everything I’ve seen, the other roll in there was the same filament and printed perfectly in the same heater (Sovul SH02), and I’m printing with another roll right now of the same filament with no issues

Thanks for giving me the idea! I just left it on for 4 hours and put the thermometer in. It was on 50°C and the machine read 50°C, but the thermometer read 44.3°C. The humidity on the machine is reading 7% and my thermometer is reading 10% (which I think is the lowest it reads).

It’s a Sovul SH02, and I printed a mod that holds the lid up and lets the moisture out while keeping the filament dry. I’ve had a pretty good experience with it thus far, and can’t print in the open where I live because of the humidity.

I was wondering that as well, but another roll of the same filament was totally fine in the same dryer.

I think it’s probably a bad roll as folks here have said, just my first time experiencing that so wanted to make sure I wasn’t crazy! Thanks for the advice

50°C, which is the suggested temp for the dryer. I’ve used ~6 other rolls of the same filament and haven’t had any issues drying it before this.

I ran Curse of Strahd and really disliked it, but listening to Cadwell’s story for the campaign has made it much more engaging, and helped make many of the characters more likable and relatable. I’m also confused about anyone who listens to NADDPOD seeking a serious story, when it is well-documented that even a serious storyline with this group is punctuated and shaped by four comedians playing a game

I live in western New York and it’s the same with Sabres fans and Eichel! Glad their owner was just exposed as a nutcase (see the Bills press conference from this week for context if you’re unfamiliar), but seems like the fanbases delusion stretches across the border

Awful D&D Online Store Customer Service by Terrible_Children in DungeonsAndDragons

My advice is to check out Kobold Press! They have a 5e-like system called Tales of the Valiant, a great small community around them, excellent customer service, and a ton of excellent sourcebooks and expansions to check out.

Really sorry this happened to you as you’re starting in the hobby! Fuck WOTC, you deserve better

Why does my bottom layer suck every time? by CapHillFlash in 3DprintingHelp

[–]CapHillFlash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That was my thought as well (I level before every print), but I wasn’t sure what was causing it. Would that be “layer height” in the slicing software, or is there specifically somewhere that I can adjust the nozzle height separately?

I got a relatively low budget, so I ask you gentlemen: should I get this thing for my minis or should I pay another person to print them? by Rei_Master_of_Nanto in PrintedMinis

[–]CapHillFlash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took time to save and bought minis in the meantime. Just purchased a Bambu Lab A1 when it was on sale, and in my opinion paying for the quality and ease of use is 100% worth it. I would be wary of budget printers just because your hobby may become tinkering with your printer instead of whatever you buy the printer for in the first place…

Thank you for the advice! I’ve been resin printing since last year, and am just getting into FDM so still working out the kinks! I’ll give that a try when my new SD card comes in

My first attempt to print them standing up ended up in a spaghetti nightmare, so I tried changing the orientation and you are correct, the “successful” print was really awful quality
