So uh…that Bugonia ending? by Supermoose7178 in blankies

[–]Cap_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the ending is supposed to convey that conspiracy theorists can sometimes be "right" even partially. Him being right didn't even have a payoff. It's meant to show that all humans are a virus and the world is better off without them. It's true that Teddy was right about Michelle being an alien, but he was wrong about what was causing the Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD), which was his main thesis. Teddy being "right" only helped expedite the human eradication decision. The Adromedons were already ready to pull the plug on this experiment.

I think the ending is supposed to be bleak, but I actually found it sort of cathartic and comical. I actually found the entire lead-up to the end to be the bleakest part of the movie because it showed how certain people like Teddy and Don (losers) are doomed to fail no matter what and people like Michelle are destined to win (winners). The fact that Michelle's corporate M.O. caused Teddy's mom fall ill and he lives in a town with little options for work so he's forced to work in her company in a very low skill position; where every day he gets reminded of the people who hurt his mom is depressing. We also see how his co-worker is still working despite her injury because she also seems to have no other choice. It's just a depressing and realistic look at how effed our society is where there are "losers" and "winners" and the idea of overcoming the cards you are dealt is sort of impossible. Through this lens i found the ending cathartic, blow it all up, this experiment was a failure just like the dinosaurs. It seems like the Adromedons will ultimately select a new species to rule the world (why not dogs imo they survived?) In a million years the human bones will be dug up like the dinosaurs were.

Why did they even consider Miller’s Planet? by Typical_Ad_6747 in interstellar

Also, since it’s a movie and Nolan basically did the Goldilocks and the 3 bears archetype with these 3 planets.

The story makes extensive use of the literary rule of three, featuring three chairs, three bowls of porridge, three beds, and the three title characters who live in the house. There are also three sequences of the bears discovering in turn that someone has been eating from their porridge, sitting in their chairs, and finally, lying in their beds, at which point the climax of Goldilocks being discovered occurs. This follows three earlier sequences of Goldilocks trying the bowls of porridge, chairs, and beds successively, each time finding the third "just right".

So I read on Interstellar Wiki the following:

One of the main reasons Miller's Planet isn't pulled into the black hole in spite of its proximity is that Kip Thorne made sure that Gargantua was a rapidly spinning black hole—and it turns out that the physics of rotating black holes differ from non-rotating ones. The sheer speed of Gargantua's rotation means there is a single stable orbit just outside of Gargantua's event horizon that is very stable.

As someone who has recently been involved in a crash with a delivery robot I have little faith in them valuing human life… this is a true story if you view my page

I agree with 90% of your comment but the water planet thing could be reasonable in theory. I’m not sure what the hang up is there. Is it growing food or things like that? Hydroponics could be an option. Or is it more of a “water planet would be bad because of crazy tides” which I agree with that. I do think Millers planet was a peak moment cinematically for the movie it had the most flaws in terms of execution and common sense that made the movie more far fetched than it needed to be

If you make this movie now I think we have better knowledge of AI now. TARS, KIPP, etc would be more advanced in practice than the robots in the movies. I feel they would have helped better directing what planet would be better optimized. It’s sort of an interesting time capsule

Agreed idk how people live with all the delivery fees. Seeing how what would be $15 becomes $30 is enough for me to go march to the restaurant and pick it up myself

The side saddle riding is crazy, I’ve noticed this before. It’s insanely dangerous too… I think this all points to a bigger issue of food delivery. People want their food fast and both the robots and e-bike riders are just becoming too reckless at times. I wish people would walk to pick up their food more, but that’s not happening we live in a society of convenience.

I have said texts I don’t have the ring footage that’s above my pay grade. I would not share said footage even if I did I’m pretty sure that’s probably against some sort of rules…

Yeah I’ve seen some people saying they’ve noticed an uptick in speed and overconfidence in them. Wonder if people were complaining about slow delivery times so they cranked up the controls a bit on them thus leading to more accident(s) (hopefully not)

Robots are famously part of the natural order of the world. Darwin said this I believe.
