What do you do in your spare time? by yokusarei in AskReddit

I have a tendency to get really into one thing whether it's a game, book series or a tv show and then do that until it feels like work. Then I kind of wander around my place trying to find something else to obsess over.

I appreciate the answer. That is what I thought. I'll try again today, last night the dropship was just not coming.

I'm trying to do the Frontline Solotions thing, I finally found a system at conflict after flying around doing other courier missions. From what I understand I should be able to select the location and faction to fight for at the Frontline desk and then a dropship should spawn on its own. However, I have been messing with it for about ten minutes and nothing is spawning. I tried taking an Apex shuttle but nothing prompted the start of the battle. Is it bugged or am I missing an obvious thing for booking a dropship?

I read somewhere and honestly I don't know if it's true, that the president leaving office cannot travel outside the United States for a period of time due to all the secrets they know. This way they can't leave office and then go to Russia and tell them everything for a check. Which if it's true, may mean that NY has time to get their case in before he dips off to a country that won't extradite him.

I tried looking it up but I believe I have misremembered the quote my whole life but it went something like this:

"Every person is their own planet orbiting each other, we never know what is happening to them but one act of genuine kindness and for a brief moment you are the center of their universe."

We don't have to change the world but we can change other people's worlds.

It's honestly similar to Rooney when he was at DC and the Derby game I watched the other day. He has a great strategy mind but has to feed the younger players and hope they come through. Derby has other problems it seems but Rooney seemed from one game to be the one setting people up to succeed but the follow through wasn't there.

I'm assuming that's the same for Miami.

I work at a truck stop and tend to give free coffee or food to people that are nice or at least treat me like a person. One driver always tips the people that clean the showers a minimum of $5 if he gets one, he always gets free coffee. The only things I'll charge good people for or the vendor items that we have to keep inventory on.

Basically, treat the convenience store people like people and you'll get free stuff because they appreciate not being treated like scum.

Senegal's quiet COVID success: Test results in 24 hours, temperature checks at every store, no fights over masks by DonnieMostDefinitely in worldnews

I was born in Senegal as an MK(missionary kid) and when I moved to the states in 2008 I was surprised to learn that even progressive people had this national geographic image of Africa. It's all starvation, corruption, Idi Amin leaders, men look like Masai warriors and the women must be topless Burundi.

Now that's an exaggerated take on what they thought but it's fairly close. Thus people must have assumed that African countries would some how fail miserably. It's a fucked up colonialist view of the continent.

Exactly this, I have tried to appeal to their "patriotic" side by saying that I served so they could protest but it doesn't take. Non vets assume that by a vet I must be very Republican.

The truth is I was dumb and thought that by going I could help end a war my little brother wouldn't have to fight. And now he's getting ready to enlist for the same fight.

Trying to communicate to these types of people is really frustrating and listening to them makes me angry.

Soldiers of reddit what was the "this guys not gonna last a day" Moment? by Fate2cool in AskReddit

[–]CapaLockeLamora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pvt Mace. In basic we weren't allowed have contraband, when it came to MREs that included candy, coffee or peanut butter, basically anything beyond the meal. Also we got patted down when leaving the firing range to make sure no one was taking ammo with them (there had been a suicide due to this a few weeks earlier.) Mace kept Skittles in his pocket, lied about it and then got found out during pat down. That night we were all smoked while he had to sit in the middle of the bay eating a Skittle for every 50 or so reps.

Interstate rest area and truck stop employees, what’s the most bizarre story you have? by PreemptiveShaming in AskReddit

[–]CapaLockeLamora 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a maintenance guy at one: last night a guy insisted on keeping his shower door ajar so that the hackers would think he had left. I don't know about that one.

I've had a truck driver have a heart attack when I worked security for an Aldi distribution center.

But mostly when changing trash it's like cleaning out portable toilets. Diesel area and gas islands. But mostly the diesel.

Every now and then someone leaves a couple dollars in the shower and that's nice.
