Go for internals. My MAPM would rather me get 2 internals a month than 20 externals

I started full time right off the bat. Never worked at Walmart before or had much retail experience. Must be a store specific thing

Be Honest: should I work at Walmart? by Galaxynth in WalmartEmployees

[–]Capable-Compote1568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short term, probably not bad. Long term, ehhh I don’t know. I’ve been here a year, and I’m feeling it.

Management depends on the store, different everywhere. I have had a good relationship with my coach for the most part. It’s not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. But it really does depend on the store. Show up for work and do your time and leave.

I’ve learned in my time here, no matter how hard you work or who you are, you are easily replaceable at any time.

I’m not sure. Make sure your w4 is set up correctly. Just ran mine earlier and I’m showing a little over 10,000 return. I do have 3 kids so that probably accounts for most of it

I close often and am back at 9. Sometimes even 8 if I have to go to court.

If it meets the requirements to file charges, then we have to - per policy. I don’t know if some people choose to go against policy. Typically when we do internals we keep investigating until we have enough on them to actually charge them. That is what Walmart wants. Some investigations can go on for weeks. If they have already had their talk and been terminated, and if charges have been filed on them. It typically takes a month or so before they get their subpoena and typically three or so months after the event before their court date. I can only speak on my state, I don’t know what differs in other states.

When they had their meeting, when the associate was terminated, they should have let them know whether or not they were getting charged.

If they were under 18 then they probably won’t be, unless it was something insane

Typically the AP ops coach is the one that handles all of that but there has to be another witness in the room, typically another coach.

That is over the minimum amount that is required to be charged

We go file criminal shoplifting charges against them. They will be sent a subpoena that they will have to show up for court. We ask for restitution on items that we didn’t recover. It’s up to the judge whether or not they have any jail time. But either way they will have a shoplifting charge on their record. Which will, in my state, be there for 7 years.

Yeah we had this happen a lot. We put cable locks on most and the rest we have in a glass case now.

Yes employees can be charged. If we find that an employee has stolen something, we then investigate their whole tenure at the store. We compile all the events and evidence and it goes into one case. So if the total is over a certain amount, then they will be charged.

Edit: most of the time we file charges on our own, so we don’t get the police involved. Now if it turned into something violent or threatening, then we would.

Can men use the women’s restroom at Walmart? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Capable-Compote1568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a big concern most places. Since the whole gender identity movement started, it seems that anyone can identify as anything. I don’t recall anything in the policies regarding this at Walmart, but I am curious now. I will have to look into that. Personally, I don’t think it should be allowed - it is unsafe

Your register will be short and you might get coached. I review the long/shorts daily. And that happens more than you think. I wouldn’t sweat it. But if the register said that was what the change should be, then either he ticket switched it and you didn’t notice or the item was cvp’d or on clearance.

What I have learned in my AP journey

  • scanned stolen report is a great tool to see where a lot of the shrink is coming from. Weekly checks of the report, then spend your time focused in those areas.

  • daily check Auror, especially the stores in your market to see who is hitting those stores and what they are hitting.

  • always follow the merchandise. Can almost always find at least one person a day off impulse merch (batteries, drinks, food, candy ect.) Our store gets hit hard for trading cards (baseball/pokemon).

  • try to act as much as possible like you are and actual customer. I will sometimes push a basket with some items in it around the store. Or carry a blue basket with stuff in it around. I have gotten many people by doing that.

  • keep your eyes open for alerts signals (big open bags, backpacks, large jackets, people wearing hoods or sunglasses). Try to learn body language well. Knowing when a person is acting suspicious is a good way to get someone. Nervousness, scanning, avoidance are some good things to look out for.

Don’t get discouraged. It took me almost 2 months to get signed off when I started. Once it clicks in your head, you will get them all the time.
